What with heartburn and restless legs (and arms), I have so far managed a grand total of 1.5 hours sleep so far tonight and I went to bed at 9pm. So many nights I end up in tears because I can't sleep and during the day poor old DD doesn't get to do much because I'm too exhausted to get off the sofa. DH is being brilliant at taking her out but I need sleep!

i sleep better when dh goes to work cos can spread out but dd back at school next week so will be getting up :(

ilovemydogandMrObama · 02/01/2011 11:21

My time seems to be between 1:00 am - 3:00 am. Hmm

My theory is that it's preparation for sleepless nights with a newborn.

ledkr · 02/01/2011 11:35

i must admit i have thought to myself that i dont need so much sleep now as was when i was a young Mum but if i recall the difference between waking up in the night and being woken up is quite stark,i am frequently tearing out my own hair at 4 am when they wont go back to sleep.Grin

flowerfairy · 02/01/2011 16:56

Oh Tarlia and websticks feel for you both. No more heels hopethat giving birth helps you to have ome sleep. I did sleep better last night apart from having to wee every 2 hrs. Bath and then reading for a while seem to help. But who knows tonight. Have been for a walk today which probably won't help the pain in my pubic bone but i'm hopin g the fresh air will help send me off again. Good luck tonight!

ledkr · 02/01/2011 23:59

good luck all hope not to speak again till morning zzzzzzzz

DitaVonCheese · 03/01/2011 01:05

Ooh, can I join the moaning? Grin Had it all the way through first pg with DD and have it again now. I'm a nightowl anyway (hence still up, waiting for computer to finish a scan) but generally wake up at 3.30ish for a pee and then can't get back to sleep again.

Currently sleeping in the spare room (had to in order nightwean co-sleeping DD) but when I'm sharing with her (eg over Christmas at DMIL's) then sleep is just atrocious, literally only a few hours a night. Better when I'm in bed by myself but my mind just races ... Don't tend to get up as I don't want to give up on sleep altogether, though did read for a bit last night.

Towards the end of last pg ended up crashing and napping every afternoon but then couldn't get to sleep in the evening - argh! At least it made having a newborn a relatively restful experience Wink

websticks · 03/01/2011 04:28

well here i am again awake in the night! been to sleep for approx 2hours. But wasn't expecting to sleep much tonight as being induced today got to be at hospital for 8 am, I am excited but somewhat nervous too.
Hope all you ladies are fast asleep.

PermaShattered · 03/01/2011 04:32

oh I am SOOOOO fed up. Tossed and turned for 2 hrs, then backache, now had paracetomol and a cuppa tea and hoping to get back to sleep - another day of exhaustion tomorrow.

It's a viscous circle!

Tarlia · 03/01/2011 07:16

Good luck today, websticks! Wishing you an easy speedy labour.

I managed 7 hours almost straight last night, I'm amazed! I might have managed more, but became aware of it getting lighter outside and i have to be up and out this morning for 32 week check - was worried iPhone alarm wouldn't work!

How did the rest of you get on?

ledkr · 03/01/2011 09:15

not a good one for me.My hips ache after being on my side for a while then i turn overlike a hippo and need a wee.
I get so breathless all the time and have spd so last night was thinking that post c section i will feel fairly comfortable haha.

autumnberry · 03/01/2011 10:40

Good luck websticks!

Last night was plagued by heartburn :( so I did not get to sleep until after 4am. Also cannot breathe so well at the moment (stuffy nose) and this wakes me up. I suppose it could be worse though.

flowerfairy · 03/01/2011 15:54

Seemed to have passed it on to dh now as he had very little sleep too last night. Slept okay but not really restful as pubic bone very painful last night after walk. So tossed and turned because hip was hurting too. Then went to sleep very heavily about 5 until 7.30 when ds woke me up. HAve just dragged myself round supermarket and taken tree down so feel exhausted now.

Tarlia · 04/01/2011 03:06

I've been up for an hour, and I'm bored. Are you all snug and asleep tonight? I need entertainmentGrin

tigerbear · 04/01/2011 03:32

Hello Tarlia, are you still awake?

1Catherine1 · 04/01/2011 06:10

How nice it is to stumble upon this thread this morning. Can I join you all for a moan?

For the last week I have regularly been waking up between 3am and 5am and struggling to get back to sleep. Hasn't really been a major problem for me since I am off work. Today though I go back to work and I've woken up at 2:30am and been trying to get back to sleep since. I gave up trying about half an hour ago and thought I would leave a message for the lovely mumsnetters on the antenatal board - I didn't even consider other suffers might still be awake. I am only 29+2 so not uncomfortably big or anything, as far as I know there is no reason for me to be waking up, can't even blame baby tonight as she has been quite settled with only the odd kick. I'm hoping getting back into the work routine might regulate my sleep.

nicolamumof3 · 04/01/2011 08:50

Can i join too!!

Im only 12+3 with dc4, and wake for at least 3-4hrs every night sometimes more. Im shattered.

I know mine is due to the fact im a nervous wreck tho!! Grin

MeesaMum · 20/01/2011 14:08

Can I join in? (a little late)

First I am so sorry to hear of all the fellow non-sleepers out there. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I'm only 16+3 with my first but having a terrible time sleeping. Getting off to sleep is no problem and I'm managing to get to bed at a reasonable hour (usually before 11pm). Once it reaches 1-2am though I'm up for the obligatory wee and then that's it. I'm awake for the rest of the night often drifting off around 5-5:30am which is no use as I get up at 6am to go to work Sad.

I'm working full time but occasionally get a day to work from home (like today - hurrah). Either way napping at home isn't an option until 6-7pm when it starts to interfere with the next's night of not sleeping.

I've tried everything - pregnancy pillow (much comfier but still no sleep), self hypnosis (very pleasant but doesn't keep me asleep), pilates/ yoga, no caffeine at all, lavender, reading etc.

Luckily DH seems to sleep through making him more alert and more able to keep on top of day to day life whilst I walk around in a zombie-like state.

Sorry for the rant. I hope you all have more rested nights tonight. Fingers crossed...

lindy100 · 20/01/2011 15:42

I've had this since my bfp. And I'm only ten weeks today.

It's not so much that I'm not getting enough sleep, but I started waking up at 4am. Then I started getting tired earlier. Then I started waking up at 3am, and now I can't seem to change it back. So now I'm up early. The amount of tv I've caught up on is amazing, but I spend all my time, when I'm not working, on the sofa.

I feel sorry for dd, though I'm not entirely surprised, as I was like this with her too. The way I see it, I'm going to have to encourage her to play a bit more independently, which will do her no harm when there is a littie bro/sis around.

badkitty · 20/01/2011 16:03

I'm quite relieved to read this and discover I'm not totally weird - I'm only 13 wks but I have the same problem, go to sleep fine initially but then wake up about 3am and am awake for hours, usually falling asleep just before DS decides to wake me up at 5.50 on the dot!

I need some way of calming my mind as when I wake up it just starts going over and over and over the circumstances of DS's dreadful birth and what might have been done differently. Even though I know it won't happen again as having C/S this time.
