Light bleeding at 7 weeks - help and comfort?

Hi all. Im 7 weeks pregnant and we are overjoyed as this was a pleasant surprise - our first was born after 3 years of trying and a 2nd round of IUI.

Yesterday, i had some light bleeding, but more than spotting (light blood on a normal pad), which lasted a few hours. there was no pain and was just blood red - wasnt thick either. i called the doctor who told me to continue taking progesterone, and to start taking magnesium.

the bleeding stopped as suddenly as it started, and i have a check up on monday, but i am going crazy wondering what is happening. what a way to pass the new year! anyone have any ideas or thoughts?

i had this at 5 weeks and it was on and off for a few weeks, it was bright red but not much of it, everything was fine though, its more common than you realise, but if you start gettin pain n cramping or passing clots i would go to your a+e streyt away. but hopefully it will be nothing. congratulations n good luck :)

Could be an implantation bleed...

I bled lightly throughput my first trimester and 36 weeks now.

Good luck and hope all goes well at the doctors next week.

I bled at 6/7 weeks - bright red blood, not enough to soak a pad but a fair amount.

Dd2, aged 3, is currently rolling around on the flood whinging and proving that bleeding doesn't always mean the worse.

Fingers crossed you will be fine.

Hi I am roughly 9 weeks now and have had implantation bleeding and breakthrough bleeding at 4 and 8 weeks and I have had bleeding after sex. Each time I have thought the worst although I know from both the midwife and doctors and sonographers et al that unless as Beckie90 says, you suffer cramps and have clots as well as bleeding heavily (I was told soaking a pad an hour) you'll be fine. But I totally sympathise. Ask the doctor to refer you to the local early pregnancy unit and have an early scan - I did (on numerous occasions) and I got to see the heart beat at 7 weeks. It does reassure you. Hope all goes well.

I had this at 7 weeks and am now 36 weeks. The EPU told me it is quite common and often means nothing. Fingers crossed for you.

I also had this at around 6 weeks and it lasted a whole week. Assumed that was the end of the pg but it suddenly stopped. Polyps were blamed. Now 16 wks and all is well.
Please dont worry, it doesnt sound significant. Enjoy your New Year and I hopeat your check up you will get the new year present you want!

I had it for a week at 6 weeks-more light brown than red - was very worried and went to EPU. Got early scan at 7 weeks and they found a heartbeat - it was implantation bleeding and apparently really common. Just put my big fat 9 month old to bed and he's fine.

I have bled in both my pregnancies.

The first one I got up from the sofa and found I had lost a fair amount of red blood. Like you had no pain and it stopped suddenly as well. Had a scan 2 days later and found I was 10 weeks and 2 days pregnant and baby was fine. Had a little girl at 39 weeks and 2 days pregnant.

Second time I started spotting not long after I found out I was pregnant. Had a scan and was 7 weeks pregnant and again baby was fine and had a little girl born at 39 weeks and 5 days pregnant.

So please try not too worry, though that is easier said than done

thanks to everyone for their kind messages. Im torn between preparing myself emotionally for the worse, and being hopeful. there is no more bleeding, hasnt been for a few days now, and i no longer 'feel' pregnant - not tired or nauseous, but that could also be due to all the running around for christmas.

was very strange passing the new year not knowing whether and how to celebrate - though my glass of bubbly stayed full all night.

fingers and toes crossed for monday!

hi all

just wanted to give you an update of what happened.

i went for the scan and the doctor saw a heart beat so we are all relieved. he also so an additional empty sac - which was a mega shock.

so we did have two and now we have one and the bleeding was a miscarriage. not sure how i feel - emotions are all over the place at the moment, but at least we still have one to hope for.

thanks to all,
