well im nearly 25 weeks pregnant, and currently in so much pain n discomfort down there its terrible, i can just feel a huge amount of pressure, everytime i cough i get stabbing pains in my cervix, it literually feels like this baby is gonna just fall out at times, im getting pains in my bum (sorry tmi Blush ) i also lost my plug 3 weeks ago but it came away in bits. i do have another child i went to 42 weeks with him and had to be induced, but i never had any kind of pains like these. so i just dont know if its normal or not, espesially so early

I am 11 weeks with my first so don't have direct experience, but imagine it would be worth asking your midwife or GP about this. If it has come on recently I would call an out of hours service. How long has this been going on for?

what did your MW say about losing your plug?

ThatllDoPig · 31/12/2010 16:22

yes, go and see mw after the weekend. Have you had any bleeding?

montysorry · 31/12/2010 16:24

I think you need to see someone. I've had 3 and felt that way from about 35wks each time but certainly not as early as 25wks. Have you told anyone that your plug has come away so early?

If I was you, I'd go up to A&E now before the rush and ask to be checked over. Explain you've had a baby before so they know you're not being alarmist. They will be fine with you as they always say, if you're worried you should come in and be checked.

Good luck.

TheVisitor · 31/12/2010 16:26

Ring the labour ward and get on your way up there now. Your plug should not have come away just yet.

geisha · 31/12/2010 16:26

Doesn't sound normal. May well be nothing to worry about eg position of baby, but in the context of having lost plug I would seek advice/assessment as soon as you can. Did you get any advice after losing plug?

beckie90 · 02/01/2011 14:30

yea my doctor confirmed id been loosing my plug, because i had to go and see her after the midwifes didnt seem to be taking me seriously, but she just told me not to worry as the plug grows back. but i cant help but worry, as i didnt start loosing my plug till 41 weeks the 1st time. the heavy pains dont feel as bad today but im just getting period type pains quite alot

Did you actually go up to the labour ward?

SummerRain · 02/01/2011 14:33

with my second and third pregnany i felt as if the baby was hanging out between my legs for the last 15/20 weeks. Lots of pressure and discomfort and generally feeling like a cowboy.

If the doctor has checked you over I wouldn't panic but be prepared to dash in if it gets worse or you get anything unusual happening

fallingandlaughing · 02/01/2011 14:33

The midwives didn't worry because losing the mucus plug is nothing to worry about! It is one of those things that everyone is told is a sign of impending labour but is in fact a complete red herring!
If you are feeling regular period type pains/tightenings (I don't mean 2 a day, I mean every 15, 10 etc mins)/and or symptoms of a UTI go up to your daycare and ask them to check you over.

beckie90 · 02/01/2011 15:00

i dont have a uti thats all been checked i have blood and protein in my urine, but when its been sent off to the lab its clear of infection thats what i thought i had at 1st as im tightning quite alot not painful just not nice. i went to the labour ward when i 1st lost abit of the plug as it was bloody not just clear i was 21+4 then, an they just took some swabs saying it was prob just an infection, but all came back clear, and thats when the doctor confirmed the plug.

I had a few days of intense pressure when I was 27/28ish weeks. I'm now 34 weeks and although my bump has dropped considerably I haven't felt that amount of pressure since.

I put it down to the baby's position. But if I were you I'd give the midwife a ring, just to be safe.

beckie90 · 02/01/2011 15:39

yea i think hes laid funny to tell you truth, cause evertime he moves it all hurts down there, i see her on wednesday, so thibk i will wait it out till then and then discuss it with her

the blood & protein in your urine will be contamination from traces of the plug I suspect. Probably just a lax pelvic floor (sorry Wink)

beckie90 · 02/01/2011 16:49

no the blood ive had it for ages now, way before the bleeding ive had. as soon as i was pregnant i started getting it they dont know what it is. my pelviv floor is all fine in that way lol

Hi Beckie

If you've got blood and protein in your urine it would be worthwhile getting your blood pressure checked regularly.

I hope the pain has subsided, if you feel feverish or unwell then you should phone labour triage ward at your nearest hospital for some advice. Worst case is that you could be in premature labour. The midwives can give you better advice about this though.

Hope all is okay.

beckie90 · 05/01/2011 19:27

i keep feeling really unwell lately, not just exhausted but really hot n feeling like im gonna pass out, ive been getting lots of tightnings for the past 2 nights i have had them every ten mins apart for 3 hours then they stop. started loosing some more mucus plug too, dont think my body wants it to grow back lol. seen midwife today she didnt check me or anything just told me what to do in ant kind of event. urine was all fine today though on a plus side

Sorry that you're still unwell, how about visiting your GP if you still feel the same? You should have your temperature checked, urine and blood pressure at the very least. Either that or phone up the antenatal triage - can usually get through switchboard. Hope you're feeling better soon. I wouldn't listen to one midwife if you're still feeling odd - it's your baby and body.
