IME, no. I couldn't breastfeed properly.
I had my boobs done on the NHS when I was 15, 12 years ago as there was a problem with my hormones meaning one was a AA and the other a C - they said they would never equal out with that much difference.
Before it was done, my mother (who was adamant I would BF in the future - I had not thought much about it at 15) asked if it would ever cause a problem. Specialist said he was very confident it would all be okay but would depend if the nerves ever grew back properly (nerves/muscle etc was severed to get implant in behind what breast tissue was there).
I was one of the ones the nerves never grew back properly for.
Sensation has never been the same.
After failing 3 times to breastfeed, I only gave myself a mild beating up when I admitted defeat with DC4 - the letdown reflex never really kicked in for me which meant the milk never really flowed - reason being, the damaged nerves were not setting letdown off iyswim?
If DH gave me a shoulder massage or I led in the bath, it would come pouring out, but the baby stimulating the nipples was never enough to get it going, even though I enjoyed it so much and was always just gazing and going all gooey at the sight of the little blighters suckling away. :)
4 times I broke my heart over it, thought I was just rubbish, but the midwife I had postnatal the 4th time actually asked me if I had proper sensation in my nipples as I was having trouble and I said no. Until then, I had never linked the loss of sensation to stimulating letdown.
:(
If your sensation is okay like it was before, or even just a little bit off, I think it would be okay, but mine is pretty poor and it just doesn't work for me. :(
That's just my experience - I'm sure there are ladies on here with lovely perky boobies whose work just fine! :) Pammys' do I believe.
