PRUNES! Lots of them.

Mangoes! Very ripe ones.

SherlockLGJ · 30/09/2005 08:12

Popcorn

The type you pop yourself.

Always worked for me.

SherlockLGJ · 30/09/2005 08:12

Oh and lots of water with it.

george32 · 30/09/2005 08:41

Oh I know the feeling. Mine have come to a grinding halt too.
Fibogel worked for a bit but the GP has now prescribed lactulose (still waiting to see if that works )

chonky · 30/09/2005 08:42

weetabix x 5, and lots of apple juice

Beanfrog · 30/09/2005 08:47

Puree those prunes and mix them in natural yoghurt. I find them easier to eat that way and they are surprisingly yummy.

Tumblemum, be sure to let me know if you find something that works!

Rachey1969 · 30/09/2005 18:00

On another thread someone recommended glycerine suppositories from the chemist - it certainly makes sense that something going up that end might have more effect!

compo · 30/09/2005 18:29

bran flakes and a nectarine for breakfast

pacinofan · 30/09/2005 18:59

Try a shot of prune juice. If you're not too keen on prunes this is ideal 'cos you can just down it in one, job done! Plus, it counts as one of 'the five' portions fruit/veg.

Tumblemum · 30/09/2005 19:14

thanks everyone this thread is really moving! just got back from work will have to try the prunes and everything else. I like the idea of popcorn
last time with ds bought so many over the counter remedies that the saturday girls in Boots sniggered, but I didn't care my modesty had gone with the excruciating pain, it is definitely worse than labour for me and the piles I got as a result - sorry if tmi

potatoes, carrots, lactulose, fibregel.

Laurasmum · 03/10/2005 13:56

Dried apricots, godsend.

Lonelymum · 03/10/2005 14:04

I spent most of my pgs on Lactulose. I often felt when I was on the loo I was practicing for labour! Dd had glycerin suppositories when she was chronically constipated and I can tell you they work like magic! Not sure if they are a good idea in pg though - check with doctor first.

Tumblemum · 04/10/2005 05:39

I am on the porridge, dried fruit, fluids and suppositories and the latter has reduced the pain. I hope it clears up soon, thanks for all the tips. I have still to get the popcorn in... thanks for all the suggestions
