Hey I have been having some backache lately. It really hurts first thing in the morning.

Have been sleeping with a pillow in between my knees to try and stop my from rolling onto my front Hmm never slept on my front before being pregnant. Im not sure if this making my backache worse or not.

So has anybody got any tips or advice to help?

How did you sleep pre-pregnancy?

It is possible to still sleep on your back if you prefer you just need to slant your body using an extra pillow to go under your upper back. so rather than being lay flat you are on a slant.

I sleep quite well with my pregnancy pillow to help me sleep. This stops me rolling on my front or back because there is something stopping me moving either way. I find it really comfy to sleep in although because my joints are all sore it can slightly hurt to get in and out of bed.

Personally I feel I can't lie on my belly - if baby moves it becomes uncomfortable and sometimes it just makes me feel sick, but if it is working for you. How many weeks pregnant are you?

I use to sleep on my side. Dont like being on my back and like I said I never slept on my front! strange

I cant afford a pregnancy pillow even though they look sooo comfy. Sad
I am 20 weeks. Really dont want 20 more weeks of backache.

Thanks for the advice 1Catherine1 Xmas Grin

I justified my pillow purchase as it also doubles as a nursing pillow so I get at least 2 years out of it :) failing that though just buy a couple of extra pillows and have a do it yourself version.

One pillow under bump to stop you rolling forward. One pillow along your back to stop you rolling back and one between your knees. No need to be quality pillow just cheap ones. The back pain is likely to stick around anyway as its a pregnancy symptom, the best you can hope for is that you don't make it worse.

I've had a bad back from very early pregnancy in bed I have two extra normal pillows that i place in an l-shape, so one between my legs and the other either as a back or front support so I'm never totally flat, you can get reasonably cheap pillows in tesco.

I've also being going to pregnancy yoga and swimming which has definitely helped ease the pain.
