Is there anything I can take to help me get over this asap? The biggest problem I've got is the aches and pains in my joints (I had them already from being pregnant but the flu has ramped them up).

Go to the doctor asap. You can take antivirals but they work best if taken within 48 hours of symptoms starting.

Poor you. Take some paracetamol, but don't take aspirin or ibprofen. I'm recovering from flu and took paracetamol based on the doctors advice. Drink loads of water as well. Get well soon.

thanks - I thought paracetamol would be ok
symptoms started friday night so it's probably too late for antivirals

me too 38+2 but i am having elcs on friday so need to get better a bit quick. Doctors will only let me have paracetamol, although they are testing me for swine flu, I have had the jab so if it is hopefully a weak version (hopefully) still feel like crap though!

You do need to call a doctor ASAP. Flu can be quite dangerous in pregnancy.

thanks for all your advice - it turned out there wasn't any time to do anything - baby decided last night was the night! Little boy born 9.41pm last night!

Congratulations, that is wonderful news! How is the flu? Or is that the least of your worries now? Hope both of you are doing well.

maxpower · 21/12/2010 11:21

Thanks - I do feel a bit better but coughing and sneezing is uncomfortable on the stitches (ouch!). The biggest relief is that the pregnancy aches and pains have gone so all round, the other symptoms are far more manageable now. Xmas Smile
