Baby so high I'm struggling with every day tasks - how best to deal with it?

Am 25 weeks and really struggling with it. Baby is all front bump wise so I think this accounts for how high it is.

I'm only 5ft 2" and breathless doing basic things and school run becoming hard work. Its only 10 mins walk and I'm trying to walk as much as possible as want a VBAC this time around and so keeping the whole optimal foetal positioning thing in mind

I know breathlessness a normal part of pg and will ease once baby drops a bit but did not expect it so early on! Have got until the end of March and a bit freaked about it getting worse

Can't offer any advice as am in same position, but wanted to sympathise!

PussinJimmyChoos · 10/12/2010 16:49

Sympathy always nice Grin I offer the same to you also and virtual choc! Xmas Grin

So, how are you dealing with it? I sit forward where I can, sleep on left side, have a birthing ball etc...but its the school run that's killing me! DS came out with his shoes on the wrong feet today and I was struggling to bend and one of the mums took pity on me and did it for me (bless her)

I just think arghh, not due until end of March, how can I cope if it gets worse?!!

Me too! I've had no choice but to spend more time resting and less on my feet, and have spent a stupid amount of time on the sofa. At my 33 week appt baby was head down though, so despite my inability to walk more than about 10 yards without sounding like I'm about to collapse he's still where he should be. You've got time before baby will settle into it's final position, my MW said mine still had time to move (he'd better not!). My daughter has had to put up with a very stop-start 10 min walk home from school for ages now, but thankfully she's being very patient Grin

25 weeks Puss, how did that happen?????

I have no answers but also symathise, being a shortarse only 5 foot 1 myself I had that with all of mine. I found under the bump clothes such as jeans really uncomfortable and wore big soft panelled over the bump ones in the hope that the elastic waistband might push the baby's head/bum down!

Diamondback · 10/12/2010 16:56

Also, get checked for anaemia - I assumed that the breathlessness was because the baby was squashing me, but then it got worse and worse and turned out to be partly the baby-squash and partly anaemia. I'm feeling much better now I'm on iron supplements!

Hiya Sidge Smile

I know! Time is flying!!

I didn't have this with DS but this one I think is standing up and saying oi, more room please Grin

Kicks also seem more down rather than out...hope doesn't mean breach as desperately want a VBAC!

Mine was "standing up" at this stage and I could hardly breathe - soon moved though as it got bigger, I suggest repeating the mummy mantra "its only a phase"!!

PussinJimmyChoos · 10/12/2010 17:23

THanks Smile

Nearly cried walking to the school today - how wussy is that! Was thinking omg...its only Dec and I've got another two terms of it, getting bigger by the week etc

Blardy hormones Grin

Good life - did you have breech in the end? Also, how did you find the kicks when in that position? Mine seem more down

I've been struggling for ages - not even being able to put socks on, or walk without pain, I was breathless and felt very full and old and achey.

Turns out baby was breech. Just had ECV and baby is now head down and I can do stuff. I feel lighter and more energetic all of a sudden. It's weird.

It could be your babies position. Get MW to check - but s/he'll probably do a lot of wriggling about and shift soon and you might feel better when s/he does.

goodlifemummy · 10/12/2010 19:12

My baby went from standing up to transverse and is now head down (am 38+5). When baby was standing up (long lie) the kicks were all down at the bottom of bump, absolutely nothing at the top, lots of bladder kicking! Am so fed up of being pg now though, and think the head may have engaged more today - am walking like John Freakin' Wayne. Come out baby!

PussinJimmyChoos · 10/12/2010 21:08

I did ask about ECV if baby was breech, but they said they would be reluctant to do it due to my c scar from DS...so I'm much more stressed about it being breech iyswim?

Having said that, I'm only 25 weeks so plenty of time yet for correct position - right??? RIGHT?? Grin

I think there's loads of time yet for baby to change. But doing stuff on all fours everyday will help & maybe some yoga?

msbossy · 11/12/2010 07:27

I can't really offer advise but only sympathise. I'm feeling the same (am also only 5' 2") at 26 weeks! A lot of round ligament pain, breathlessness and generally struggling. There's just less room in us little'uns. It dors seem harder this time around (dc2) but I think that's the toddler effect.
