35+6 and breech. Any top tips for turning her? Have tried all the exercises on spinningbaby.com and will keep trying them, but wondered if anything had worked for any of you out there?

Moxibustion worked for me by the next day.

Keep your feet and your sacrum warm (wrap a scarf around your lower back). These two things can help release tension you might be unknowingly holding on to and so allow a little bit more space for baby to turn. Perhaps try in combination with spinning baby techniques.

Another vote for the moxi stick from me - felt like a weirdo doing it but it really worked

autumnberry · 10/12/2010 15:12

BTW, the keeping warm thing also relates to moxibustion.

No experience with this since I'm expecting my first, but have heard that a chiropractic technique called 'websters' is supposed to be helpful. It opens up the pelvis more and releases tension in the uterus, or something like that.

Hi there. I'm in the same boat at 34+4. Just read an interesting book on breech babies and births which suggested having a warm lavender bath, lighting candles, putting on soothing music and then doing knee-chest position on your bed for as long as you can stand it. Apparently works for some women much better than just doing positions all tensed up.. Basically if you are more relaxed then so will stomach muscles and so more space for baby to turn. Haven't tried it yet myself though!

saucetastic · 10/12/2010 20:32

And another for moxibustion. Not too bad being suggested by world health organisation with good trial outcomes.
Don't know why it works, but it did for me.

strandedatseasonsgreetings · 10/12/2010 20:36

In my honest opinion I truely believe if a baby is breech it's breech for a reason and if it isn't going to turn, it isn't going to turn.

They tried to turn dd1 but she was having none of it.

Anyway she was able to hold her head up from birth and was sitting up by 4 months so if all else fails you will probably have a strong baby!

PositiveAttitude · 10/12/2010 20:40

Head on floor, bum on sofa and feet waggling in the air!! Worked for me, but don't do it when you are alone, cos you will need help to get upright again after.
I was told to stay like it for 30 minutes, but could only do about 20, but within an hour DD3 had moved around.

YellowCecil · 11/12/2010 15:51

@Strandedatseasonsgreetings - did you manage to birth vaginally or was it a section? V. keen to avoid having a section but midwife really negative about it.

strandedatseasonsgreetings · 11/12/2010 17:27

I had a section, it was my first so the thought of giving birth vaginally to a breech baby didn't appeal (I am far too much of a coward). I know it is possible but I think you need a midwife who is specially trained.

Anyway both my elective sections (dd2 went 11 days over so I ended up with another section rather than being induced) were brilliant, positive, fabulous births.

Is there any particular reason you don't want a c-section? I might be able to reassure you?

Another for Moxibustion, and it worked at 37 weeks. Burnt in the evening, and in the middle of the night was aware of a lot of activity so kept still and relaxed and felt huge stretching at the sides as he turned. Next morning midwife confirmed. Best of luck :)

MacMomo · 13/12/2010 12:04

baby still very active and wriggly! I think she's trying to turn. Have been doing self-hypnosis to relax (and feeling very de-stressed). I wondered if the support brace I have been wearing was constricting her so I have stopped wearing it. Will try the moxibustion - can you get it over the internet? have been offered CS but would prefer to try it the natural way.

I had ECV at 37 weeks. It's not for everyone and it bloody hurt (but then I also had SPD) but it worked. DS was induced at 38 weeks and was still head down. He was however, back to back so that bloody hurt too!

GruffalosGirl · 13/12/2010 13:32

I did the thing where you go swimming and dive to the bottom of the pool as many times as you can and that worked for me. You don't dive from the side but from in the water and you have to touch the bottom. I managed to do it about five times I think.

MacMomo · 15/12/2010 21:46

Have now been told there's not much amniotic fluid, so we're not sure that any turning will work, but we're hoping to try anyway.
