Does anyone have any advice?! :)

Do we really need a new car for instance? Will we never go abroad again...? Those are the kind of things I've heard....

You'll need a new car when DC1 is in a booster and the others in fixed seats - you can't get your hand in to fit the seatbelt on a booster in most cars.

Have just realised that our trips abroad have been drastically cut since DD3, but I'm sure it's not her fault!

You'll also realise that you only have two hands for crossing the road.

And that even a king sized bed is a bit snug for 5.

And that it is the best thing EVER. Xmas Grin

Fortress · 08/12/2010 19:45

Ah! Love the 5 in a bed image!

What car have you got then mustdash?

Hmmm. What about if 2 are in booster seats? Possible in the back with a baby car seat?

SoNotWorthIt · 08/12/2010 19:48

Its fucking hard work. every single minute of every single day.

Yes you need a new car (unless you lady have an estate or mpv)

Yes holidays abroad become tricky as do holidays in UK.

Meals out are a whole new level of ??

2 hands = 1 child free to run off/kerb walk/ tree climb/get lost.

Fortress · 08/12/2010 19:54

Thanks for that sonorworthit!

If your oldest DC is 4-5+ can just use a booster cushion in the middle - I found a very narrow one in halfords, expensive for a booster cushion but cheaper than buying new car!!! No problem with with them all in the back. The middle seat is the safest seat in the car, even on booster safer than in more proper car seat in boot seat. DS2 in rearfacing seat and DS1 in big car seat. DD in booster in middle.

We have been abroad, was fine - although my older DC are 4 and 7. Crossing roads fine one holds each side of the buggy - not sure how 4 would work though.

pinkclouds · 08/12/2010 20:56

We manage with an estate car we had two full car seats either side and a booster in the middle. Plenty of room Smile.

Love having 3 not that hard, as for holding hands, youngest gets a full hand to hold and the two older ones hold on to the other hand Wink.

We have travelled easily with 3 even when they were all under 4 (long haul flights, driving to southern France) no probs. Hotel rooms are the only prob so we tend to have an apartment, villa or caravan.

Anyway can't be that bad I'm now expecting #4. Good luck and enjoy.

Fortress · 08/12/2010 21:04

Thanks for that pinkclouds and mumnwlondon :)

Feeling less panicky now.....!

Not quite sure how I'll do the school run yet, but I suppose I'll just have to get on with it...suppose putting on make up may have to be ditched Confused

My 3 are 3, 5 and 7 and I wouldn't change a thing. They all have their moments, but really are best friends and it's lovely.

re the crossing the road/walking thing I found it easier to use reins for my youngest than to grow a third hand, just less hassle on the jumper and coat front!!!

People tend to think you are slightly bonkers and finding holidays and hotels tends to be a nightmare. As do so called "family tickets", but hey, that's all minor stuff really.

Enjoy your pregnancy and good luck with your new brood!

JingleJulezbooBells · 08/12/2010 21:26

Lovely thread! Currently 30 weeks prg with 3rd boy :)

SoNotWorthIt · 08/12/2010 21:50

JUst me that finds it exhausting then loL!

FWIW one of mine is currently being assessed for ASD. Mine are all boys 7, 5 and 2.

Some things were easier - probably because i have done it twice already!

Congrats!
Yes, tiring.
We have 7 seater but have the 3 kiddies all together and don't use the last 2 seats, unless they fight and I cannot stand the shouting then someone goes at the back.
Since the youngest was born 16 months ago, we've been abroad 4 times (but only in Europe)Shock.
We're currently preparing for a 12 hour flight... Where is the scared emoticon??

Baysmum · 08/12/2010 22:03

Ahh loving the 3 boys posse - currently 20 wks with...ds no.3 - can't wait.

Fortress · 08/12/2010 22:07

Ah this is what I need more of the positives because I know it's going to be hard! Shock

My eldest has a booster seat so perhaps they'll all fit in the back [hopeful]
Hope this one is as easy as my second!

On a shallow level how will I do my makeup in the mornings?!

i have 3 boys too Grin

no idea about make-up as i never wear it!

wineandpeanuts · 08/12/2010 22:20

i (almost) had 3 under 3- and it's lovely, and the best bit is i look at dc3, now 3mo and feel totally and utterly in love with him, makes me cry every time Smile. let's just say last one wasn't 100% planned biggest effing shock of my life and i was worried i wouldn't have enough time to be a 'good' mummy blah blah and he's utterly blissful and scrummy. ( am aware i sound like an absolute loo- but just thought u should know Smile)
on the other hand u start encouraging the older lo to do alot more for themselves, dc2, almost 20mo, makes a very good stab at dressing herself Grin.
and finally i noticed almost instantly, that when i 'only' have 2 of them now, i find it totally piss easy Grin, obviously nature's way of allowing u to cope.

Fortress · 08/12/2010 22:21

Did you find out you were having a third ds thisisyesterday?
I have two ds's and think I'll probably find out... Think I'll actually find it scary which ever flavour I have. Girl unknown quantity to me and 3 boys - wow! :)

OP posts:
Fortress · 08/12/2010 22:23

So happy you are having your third... Both DH and I are the third of three and we were so excited to get our third (after much agony!) We have dd 13 and ds 8 and now dd 5, so they are well spaced.... Big car is v. important to split them up if you do long journeys. Also, your third will probably be loud, as they have to have a voice. Just let them off on that basis. My middle needs me most, maybe cos he's a middle, maybe cos he's a boy....

I love moving into the BIG family mode that seems to happen when you have three.

It's a big chaotic family and I hope they all thrive....

Can't advise on make up as only do special ocasions

robino · 08/12/2010 22:30

Watching intently! 30 weeks with DC3 now, have DD1 (3.10) and DD2 (2.5) and like you, Fortress - am a bit scared whichever flavour no3 turns out to be. The "unknown" boy - or 3 teenage girls in the house at the same time!

In the process of trying to buy a 7 seater because we have a dog to fit in the car too which would mean very little boot room in a "normal" car.
