baby kicks non stop should I be worried?

Some days my baby just won't stop kicking and doesn't seem to need to sleep. Should I be worried? Normally I was told that if baby doesn't kick very much I should call the hospital but what if the baby kicks all the time?

It just means you have a very active baby! DS1 was like this and I found it hard to deal with.

I don't think anyone really believed me as to how much I was being kicked until he was born. Everyone was looking at him in his moses basket and he was kicking and squirming and moving his arms constantly. I remember saying 'OK now do you get it... that was inside me'
I am now 25 weeks with DS2 and I have an anterior placenta. It is ironic but now I am willing every movement and kick because you don't feel them as much with the placenta in the way. At least with an active baby you are re-assured they are ok in there. However as with most things if you are concerned I would mention it to your MW

How far gone are you? I am 35 weeks and after having been concerned a few weeks back that the babe was moving less then normal, for the last week or so IT HAS NOT STOPPED! I saw on another thread that someone was having similar and they were about as far gone as me as well. I take it as a good sign, but it is a bit annoying and I've got a couple of tender spots where the muscles/skin must be stretching so it sometimes actaully hurts! When it felt like it was moving less the HR etc was fine and MW said that sometimes the position the baby is in can influence how much movement you actaully feel. I'm going to mention it to my MW when I next go, but if you are really concerned and don't want to wait, then you could always give yours a call to put your mind at rest. x

My DD was like this, I use to get sooo sore because she never stopped kicking. She is 14 months now and is a lively little thing, she spends all day dancing around the room

I am 30 weeks. I told my midwife in the last appointment that the baby kicks a lot and she seemed to think it's ok. But then since the appointment there were a few days the baby just kicks non stop - I am just worry whether the baby is stressed?

I'm not sure, but I think reduced fetal movement and HR is more a sign of fetal distress. Call MW on the phone, if they think it is anything to worry about they may suggest monitoring it for a while, if not they will just put your mind at rest. A quick phone call to the delivery suite is not a hangable offence either - it will only take them 10 minutes and they won't mind discussing it with you. I called them about a rash I had on my bump once as it was a Friday night and I knew it would be ages before I would get a response on the non-urgent number. Turns out it was completely normal and nothing at all to worry about but they didn't mind me calling at all and it put my mind at rest. Better safe than sorry.

live wire thats all I would think :)

Apparently babies move about in their sleep as well so it doesn't mean your ittle one's necessarily awake all the time. I'm 29 weeks and convinced I am having a kickboxer as I seem to feel almost constant kicking, punching and wriggling! I do find it strangely comforting though - let's see if I feel the same in a month's time.

I wouldn't worry about it with my DD2 she moved constantly, I used to joke she was trying to kick her way out but I also worried that if she was so active inside me would she be like that outside and not sleep well but she was brilliant, she slept loads and was a perfect little baby!
