braxton hicks sometimes hurt right?

I never had them with DD, and then was induced, so never went through the am I aren't thing last time.
I read that braxton hicks are like tightenings but not painful, but then I'm sure people have referred to painful braxton hicks in the past.
I've been having painless ones the past couple of weeks, but this morning they're definitely aching, not major pain, but crampy.
do I worry? do I go to the doctor? It's hell getting anywhere because of the snow and I don't drive, and I'm on my own with DD, meant to be working tonight too..... I'm 33 weeks.

I had quite crampy braxton hicks at 39w - but only for about 10h and then they went away, never to return. I thought they were the start of labour - I was so wrong. Also had to be induced.

Can you phone your midwife and get her to come to you? i thought i was having braxton hicks with ds at 36 weeks, not bad but annoying...but i was in labour...

better to be safe and get checked...it's obviously enough to have you concerned or you'd not be posting on here FWIW i never felt contractions with dd either and was 3cm dilated....

I had quite a few last night, sort of one every 10 mins or so (am almost 38 weeks) and felt pretty awful, had a bath, went to bed and they went off thank goodness, but was starting to wonder. They are never completely painless for me though, always seem to take my breath away! Maybe I am happily dilating without even knowing it, and in a couple of days I will sneeze and voila!!

hmmm, they've stopped now.
hey're not in any way regular, and I wonder if they might've started because my bump sticks out my coat and it got v cold!
Will give the m/w a ring, its a major trek with a grumpy toddler to actually see someone so I'm not doing that now, really can't imagine them sending someone out...

With DS they were strong tightenings which were quite painful. With DD they were definitely painful - like labour. Knew it wasn't labour as stopped when I turned.
