did anyone express from straight away?

I'm 38 weeks pregnant and just wondering if anyone expressed from straight away? I'd quite like to breastfeed but would like to express as soon as possible but not sure how well that would work..

chipmonkey, I am in Ireland too. (although Northern). The hospital had an on site breast feeding co-ordinator available daily, breast pumps to borrow etc. They were great.

Ah, well I'm in the South and IMO the NHS is a very different thing from the HSE!

My daughter was given a bottle in the first few days and was totally hooked on how easy it was to feed from an artificial nipple. So, I gave her EBM from a bottle for a couple of months until my supply took a nose dive. It was all of the inconveniences of breastfeeding and bottle feeding. I would only do this again as a last resort. I just got a BFP yesterday, and ,unless there are major health issues, he or she will only get milk from the source for the first weeks.
