I am only 7 wks pregnant with my 3rd child but have severe all day, all night nausea. I really can't cope anymore! I am thinking what am I doing putting myself through this. Noone understands & nothing makes it better. I am a rubbish wife & mother at the minute. House is a mess, can't cook. Tried everything including acuputure. Has anyone been given medication at this early stage & does it work. I actually don't want to be pregnant- I know this is a terrible thing to say. Life is a living he'll at the moment

If things are really severe you need to talk to your dr. or midwife about it. I have heard of women being given mirtazapine for severe sickness - it is an anti depressant, but also has a strong anti-emetic effect too.

You'd need to discuss it with the dr really though.

Chcolatte2 I have been there, I understand. I had cyclizine, metroclopromide and stemitil as anti-emetics. I was also hospitalised for 6 weeks. It was stemitil and sucking on ice cubes that helped in the end. Felt much better at 14 weeks.

Thanks, will they give me anti sickness medication if I am not vomiting? I even hate going to bed- worse lying down & wake up with nausea 3-4 times per night. I really am totally useless just now. This is a nightmare. Everyone I know breezes through pregnancy.

chocolatte - I am with you. It is hideous - I have just started taking cyclizine at 11 weeks as I couldn't cope for another day. It has made a massive difference. It has helped with my nausea as well as my actual sickness so hopefully they will prescribe and even if you just use it to get some respite on certain days.

Don't be hard on yourself. Look after yourself and try to close your eyes to all of the household stuff and just give DH a long list of things to do at the weekend and evenings.

Also, if it makes you feel better I put my child into full time nursery as it was the only way I could cope. I felt so ill I didn't even feel guilty.

Take care and just think in 9 months time it will be worth it.

I've taken both stemetil and cyclizine in early pregnancy. I was vomiting non-stop though and needed rehydration.

Stemetil did nothing for me but the cyclizine stopped the vomiting but the nausea was still there.

Not sure if the doctors will prescribe if no vomiting. In my case it was the severe dehydration that they were concerned about.

Thanks everyone- know this sounds rotten but good to feel I am not alone. I really want to have anti sickness medication but so worried about baby's development. I don't know how much longer I can live like this & I am only 7wks. I was nauseous with both my DS & DD but it started much later. They are both pre-schoolers & Cbeebies has been their babysitter for 3wks. I don't want to tell work so early but will have to now if this continues as I can barely function. I only work part time but know they will 'put out' alot by my absence. I don't get paid when off too which is a nightmare coming up to Christmas. Oh, I just want to feel normal again!
