How much lifting and carrying do you do if you are 37 weeks or more?

I've just started my maternity leave and have been getting lots of jobs done in the house in preparation. I've been lifting baskets of wet washing, moved a table and various other stuff.

I do make sure I do things slowly and am taking regular rests particularly if the baby starts to go crazy.

Is this ok? Not weightlifting or anything but I do have to get stuff done...

I think the biggest issue is that it's easy to injure yourself, especially at this stage. You won't know something is too heavy till you lift it or move awkwardly though, so I'd be careful.

You don't want to be going into labour with dislocated joints!

Yeah, I think perhaps I need to take it a bit easier tbh, for my sake. I had a day last week where I ended up with a bit of back ache after a few hours of tidying.

It's just hard not to want to do things.

Loads if it's not your 1st baby... toddler-on-hip for example

I think the main issue is injuring yourself as you're more prone to it when pregnant.

I lifted and stacked our winter delivery of logs when I was 38 weeks and didn't do myself any harm. Just listen to your body I guess.

I totally agree with believeinlife, I was still able to comfortably lift washing loads and even helping to carry / shuffle furniture. Some days I didn?t feel up to it. Just listen to your body and you will be fine.

Don't lift anything very heavy - your ligaments stretch more easily when you're pregnant and - unlike muscles - they can't be worked back into shape. Same reason your boobs droop!
