Hi,
My sister has recommended geting an oil heater with a thermostat for the nursery.

She's in NZ so I'm looking for recommendations of one to buy here as our nursery doesn't have a radiator and bubs is due in Feb so the room will need a bit of heating.

I don't want an electric or a fan heater as wouldn't trust these.
I've had a look on John Lewis but there is only achoice of 4 and 3 of them have reviews which aren't so good two about he plugs getting super hot which worries me.

Any recommendations of heaters that you've had no problems with and would happily without concern use in the nursery would be appreciated.

I'm only considering oil ones.
Thank you!

How cold does your nursery get???

I would be nervous of any kind of independent heating in a nursery, plus the fumes etc.

Baby gro bags + the appropriate level of clothing may be sufficient unless the temperature is likely to be sub-zero??

We have a DeLonghi oil-filled radiator in our DD's bedroom. It's the kind that you plug in, so it is electrical, but there are no exposed elements, fumes or parts that get really hot.

It's just like your normal radiator, really, except that it plugs into the wall. I can't see it being more of a fire risk than a standard radiator, either (unless of course there was a problem with the plug or dodgy wiring in the house).

It has a thermostat, etc. and we are very happy with it. Heats the room quickly, but you can set it very low so it doesn't get too hot.

I could post a link but we bought ours here in Belgium and the models/product names don't seem to be the same in the UK. Argos, John Lewis, Comet, etc. all sell a range of DeLonghi oil-filled radiators though.

I'd second the Delonghi suggestion. We have one that that we will use which has a seperate built in fan, which is useful for giving a quick boost if the room is chilly to start with, but you can then turn off and use the oil filled part to maintain the temp.

We got ours from Argos a couple of years ago, I cant remember the model of the top of my head.

We have an thermostatic oil filled Delonghi from Argos as well. We've used it for a while to heat our bedroom on really cold nights. Our first LO is due in December and it's going to come in handy once the heating goes off for the night. Don't want to heat the whole house when we can use the oil filled heater to heat the area we need. My SiL has one for each DC's room and loves that they are adjustable and don't leave a nasty smell. And they are portable so can be put away when you aren't using them.

Thanks for all the suggestions - will havea look now at the selection from Argos.
