Asprin and Morning Sickness?

I am on 75mg of asprin a day. My morning sickness is really kicking in now, currently just severe nausea mostly, but it's lasting from when I get up to when I go to bed.

I'm a bit worried that as the sickness gets worse (I was being sick up to 12 times a day in my previous pregnancies) I will be sick and bring the Asprin up.

Anyone had any experience of this? How long after I've taken the asprin do I need to be worried for? Is there anything I can do? I've tried medication for the sickness before and it didn't work.

Hi midori I'm glad to hear you're pregnant again and they've got you on aspirin - I was on aspirin and clexane in my pregnancy after PROM too and had similar problems with sickness. I was told the aspirin gets absorbed quite quickly after taking it, I used to take it after a piece of dry toast first thing.

If I was immediately sick I used to agonise over whether to take it again, sometimes I did sometimes not..I met a few people on 150mg doses anyway so I reckoned a little bit too much was better than none at all.

I had buccastem prescribed in pg number three and found it quite useful, maybe a 20% reduction in sickness after taking it, have they tried you on that one before?

Thankyou. They've discovered I have APS, so I am on clexane too. Fun! Grin I am just relieved to be feeling sick at all tbh, I had a miscarriage in between the twins and now and didn't get any symptoms then. Hard to worry though.

I've managed not to be sick today so far. I have tried various medication, but the one you mention doesn't ring a bell, so I'll remember to ask if I am I need.

Did they find a cause for your PROM? Was the asprin and clexane just precaution? Did you have PROM in that pregnancy too or go to term? Sorry for all the questions, you were so helpful before.

Is there any pointin the daywhen you feel better than others (I realise with being sick 12 x it probably leaves much time). I used to take aspirin going to bed as I was sick in the mornings.

Thankyou.

Sadly, I feel sick for most of the day, so it's hard to time it when I don't feel ill. I have noticed that forcing myself to eat does help the nausea a little, so I have been eating before the asprin.

I have the coated ones, I don't think the tablets themselves make me feel sick, although sometimes they give me mild indigestion. I am afraid to change the time I take it in case it has a negative effect, as it's like taking it 12 hours late. Blush That's probably really, really silly, but I'm only 6+2 and terrified.

I think if I'm sick when I've very recently taken it I'll think about taking a second.

Only just got back on computer, sorry. God can't believe you have APS as well, sorry to hear this, me too. They found the placenta on the second baby was full of little clots then one huge one which caused the partial abruption which caused the PROM, baby survived in utero for just a week afterwards. You did brilliantly keeping your little twins inside for as long as you did.

I was on self-injected clexane with PG 3 once a day as well, lots of lovely bruises. Totally agree with the taking aspirin at the same time every day, I felt like if I took it too early the coverage of it would kind of run out, does that make sense? Had to do the clexane at the same time every day according to the docs so I felt like the aspirin must work the same way.

Having PROMed with the first two and having one PREM baby first time and one that didn't make it the second time I made it to 38 weeks with the third! My waters did go first though. I have to say the terror reduced dramatically when I reached 24 weeks and then again at 32 weeks, though the fear is indescribable to anyone else; Between 16-24 weeks I was terrified every time I stood up in case my waters just went.

There used to be a place on SANDS for pregnancy after PROM, I don't know if the thread is still running. Will be thinking of you anyway.

Thankyou so much. I didn't realise you had APS too. Awful though it might sound, I find that encouraging as they previously (prior to the APS being diagnosed) felt that the PROM had probably been caused by infection, despite the fact I showed no signs of it when swabbed at the time of the rupture.

Annoyingly, they didn't check my placenta or send it for testing after I had the twins. I suppose so much was going on at the time that they didn't think. It was all a bit sudden, one minute they were saying I was only 2cm dilated and might still need induction (they were mental, I was in agony!!!) and the next Megan was being born and as they didn't expect it only one midwife was in the room at the time.

I am not normally a panicky person, but I am currently a wreck, if I am honest. My first goal is to get to 12 weeks, and then I will get worried about PROM. I think I will feel much better once I get to 24 weeks (although I did warn the neonatologist if I see him in labour at 23 weeks again, I wll be arguing for them to intervene again!) and then 28 weeks and then anything after that I think I'll see as a bonus.

It's such a shame to not be able to enjoy the pregnancy, but hopefully I'll relax later on.

Thanks again, so much.
