for various reasons I didnt have anti D after my last birth, which means I am currently waiting for the results of my antibody blood test.

I am really worried about what will happen if it shows I have made antibodies against the babys blood.

The scan yesterday went brilliantly, and we are so chuffed everything is ok, but on the other hand I am so worried that I will get a call tomorrow telling me that we have a problem :(

Does anyone have any experience of this and can give me any advice?

Did you need anti D last time or was it not administered because baby was negative blood group

I did need it but didnt get it. Was a catalogue of errors that led to me not getting it.

Hi mummytoatribe - I hope you've had a call by now, telling you everything is ok, but I just wanted to try and set your mind at rest in any case.

Firstly, Rhesus disease is very rare these days (partly because of the programme to give antenatal and post-partum anti-D injections) - and doctors are much better able to treat it today than used to be the case. So it's quite unlikely that you have made antibodies following your last pregnancy - and even if you have, outcomes are generally very good nowadays.

I'm on my first pregnancy, and have been diagnosed with Rhesus incompatibility. It's been a bit scary at times, but I'm feeling reassured now that it's not the end of the world!

I've just posted some details about my treatment here, in response to a question on another thread. Hope this helps - but PM me if you want more information. And good luck with your results today! :)

Hi there.

I've just posted my story in the anti-D thread. Briefly - although I had the anti-D injections, both my DCs (separate pregnancies) had Rhesus disease. They each required 5 days of phototherapy and were absolutely fine afterwards. Hope this puts your mind at rest!

Thank you for that reassurance :)

I rang the hospital in the end as I was like a cat on a hot tin roof!

I have a negative result, so no antibodies. Talk about a huge relief :) I will be getting more tests obv as the pregnancy progresses, but fingers crossed everything is ok!

Thanks so much for your help xx
