Hi Happy
Just saw your message so congratulations on quitting. I wasn't around on mumsnet during the original discussion. I'd love to hear about the hypnotherapy. I'm not pregnant but would love to stop nontheless. Can you tell me what was involved etc. Thanks

Hi Posey, I had one session with the woman I went too, which lasted about half an hour. She made me feel really relaxed and started talking about how I was a non-smoker and stuff like that. She didn't really hypnotise me like you see on the TV, you're just so relaxed that it goes into your subconscious, even if you're not listening properly! Afterwards she gave me a CD to listen to to 'make my subconscious even stronger'. The session cost £49. Some people may need more than one session, but one worked for me, so give it a go! Although bear in mind you have to really want to give up for it to work. Good Luck!

Happy1 - well done for giving up!!

Happy1 - I found it really easy for the first 4 months coz the smell made me feel sick! But after that I struggled, it didn't help that dp didn't stop. He was banished to the garden, but I would still smell it and the cravings would make me cry. I found that if I just had one puff of his cigarette it was enough for me. I got that down to one puff once a day (pathetic, I know).... but I swear that one puff kept me sane(-ish)!

Its so difficult isn't it! I swear I'll be a exsmoker by the time I get pregnant with No 2!

It didn't help me to think of my unborn child as I really couldn't relate to 'it' at all! I'm hoping that now that I know the intense love that a Mum feels for her child that I will be able to take you advice Grommit. But for some it just isn't that simple.

Don't look at that other thread. It got quite nasty and CERTAINLY won't make you feel any better!

Oooops - didn't realise there was an update at the top of this thread!

I have been thinking about Hypnotherapy for my and my DP. I thought it was MUCH more expensive.

Does it really truly work? (she asks desperately)
