Prolonged soreness after cramp?

I'm 35+6 and had a few cramps earlier this week in my right leg. Problem is it's still really sore - even to touch. I feel like I'm dragging it along, especially at the end of the day. I've tried massaging it, having a hot bath, elevating it - but no luck. Had another cramp burst in the night as well.

Anyone else had this and know how to get rid of it? Or, at what point do I worry that it's something more - like a deep vein issue?

with DD1 I had terrible cramps - what seemed to help was eating a banana before bed (increased potassium) and the slugs of gaviscon I was taking for heartburn.

I feel your pain! It's unlikely to be anything serious - you'll have damaged some of your muscle through cramping.

Thank you lal123 - I'll def try eating more bananas. Although i eat a lot of fruit, I'm not hugely fond of bananas but it may help

I had this and asked my physio (who I'm seeing for SPD) especially as with dd I got bad cramp every time I pushed during labour which was a pain! She said do gentle stretches, stretching your leg back behind you, still touching the floor to extend your calf muscles. She also said try not to point your toes as that usually brings on the cramp. i usually have mine at night but her advice seems to have seeped into my subconciousness and I remember to bend my ankle as soon as it starts so it doesn't get too bad. I have had it v badly a couple of times, like yours where it stays sore for days. Its horrible isn't it!
Be cautious about having too much pottassium too, I asked my pharmacist about this (befoe I saw my physio), and although cramp can be due to a lack of pottassium its unlikely in pregnancy and is more likely to be due to general swelling. Too much potaasium can be bad in pg as the liver finds it hard to process and is having to work hard in pg anyway. 1 banana a day is fine but don't over do it. Hope this helps, if not try and speak to a physio.

Thanks LittleB - I go to a pilates studio twice a week and went this morning and we did a lot of stretching. It's definitely helped a bit. No pointing, you're right. It's horrible. I feel like I'm dragging a limp leg around! I think it is general swelling - I have swelled up slightly in my legs and ankles. Not worringly so but it must have had some effect.
