Hi ladies! Im sneakily typing this at work....so apols for any typos! Grin

I wonder if any of you can give me some advice...

Last night I was in bed, sleeping on left side (Im 25 wks) and all of a sudden my left leg kind of went into spasm and the calf muscle itself felt exactly like it had popped out of the socket! Shock

I was completely frozen but stayed quiet as I didnt want to wake OH up. I couldnt stretch out my leg for a good few mins and felt my calf....and truly it felt as though the calf muscle was hanging on by a thread!

I waited for a few more mins and slowly, inch by inch I managed to straighten the leg out and then about 10mins later the calf felt like it was back "in".

Got up today and I can walk, all is fine...but muscle is very noticeably sore..

I have heard some folk get cramps during pregnancy but just wondered if the whole calf "popping out" is also usual???

Any ideas? Should I see a doctor??

Sympathies. When I was preggers I had this a couple of times. My whole calf went rock solid. V v painful. If it happens again try stretching toes back towards you. As in opposite of pointed toes. My muscle hurt next day too. Hope it doesn't happen again.

I get this too - luckily not for a while.

I recommend putting your feet up whenever you can, flexing your feet so your moving the calf muscles (this gets the blood flowing) and drink plenty of water.

Don;t know why it happens, just know its bloody painful, unfortunately for my DH I am unable to remain quiet and wake him up as I'm effing and blinding!!!

just to add I'm not pregnant, just get it anyway!

Muscle pain might be a sign of a slight deficiency in magnisium which is not uncommon in pregnancy. Try eating organic raw cacao nibs (you can add these to cereals or sprinkle on yogurts).

thanks to you all - most helpful! Good to know its not just me & it happens!

I will certainly try to stretch it out gently & will make sure Im drinking enough/getting plenty of magnesium.

I've been working long hours this week, with little sleep...so that probably didnt help matters....

Was soooo painful! What we have to go through eh??!! Wink
