How did you tell your DH/DP you were pregnant?

Just wondering as there are some nice stories on another thread about how people told their partners :)

I did my pg test when I woke up in the middle of the night - was half asleep and initially went back to bed and thought I'd tell DP in the morning. In the end I woke him up about ten minutes later switching the light on, giving him his glasses (practically blind without them) and waving a pee-ey stick in his face going 'guess what!'

DP was like.. 'Wow you're pregnant! But why are you telling me at 4.00am??'

I tested one morning with DH waiting outside the bathroom door - we stood looking at the test for ages but only the control line came up. Then a few days later there was still no sign of AF so I thought I'd do another test which completely surprised me by coming up faintly positive. So I went downstairs where he was eating breakfast and said 'So I did another test... but I think it's a dodgy one because it's come up with a second faint line'. Showed him the test and he said he was kind of expecting it but it was still a surprise! Apparently me being really tired had made him suspicious.

We decided that maybe it was a good time for us to start TTC and had a very grown up chat along the lines of 'it can take years and I don't want anything to be forsed or different with us'

4 weeks later and waiting for my period to start I walked in the living room giving DH the stick and asked how many lines "how many lines so you see"'when he said clearly 2 and looked at me to say what does that mean I was already smiling and with tears rolling down my face he knew!!

Phoned him at work, answerphone was on. He phoned back and said "what do you want". "You know that pregnancy test, well it's positive" "are you sure"

Real romantics us...

He had been away all week for work and came back on Friday, which was also his birthday - so I bought a pair of really cute Elmo slippers for new born babies and put them in with his presents (someone gave me the idea on here) and got my camera ready to record the reaction...

He didn't get it though and thought I'd lost the plot... he thanked me for them and looked a bit unsure. So I just told him.

Moment ruined!

First time, did test just before DH got back from work. Had been trying for 6 months so couldn't quite believe it. Tried to think of a cool way to tell him in the next 20 minutes - ended up putting the test in the utensils drawer and pretending to start dinner. When he came in I pretended to chat normally and casually asked him to get me something out of the drawer.

It was lovely. Looking back though it seems a bit gross, putting it in with food preparation items! I did put the top back on though! Blush
