do taller women make bigger babies?

everytime i go to see my midwife she says my baby is measuring big (i'm 36+5) but it is probably just because i'm tall. I'm 5ft10 which isn't particularly tall, but is it true that taller women make bigger babies?

can anyone speak from experience?

I'm 6 foot and have always had problems in pregnancy with doctors and midwives saying my babies were small (suspected IUGR). They have been 7lb 10oz, 8lb 6oz, 7lb 13oz and 9lb!

Afterwards they have always said it's because I'm so tall and have more space for the baby to hide in Hmm.

They even induced me early with my first as they were so concerned. By the fourth I just ignored them.

Oh and definitely all my babies have had long femur lengths at my 20 week scan.

DS is about 6 foot 1 aged 14.

I was told that your pelvis size relates to your shoes size. Thus if you're tall you'll probably have larger feet. Your body isn't supposed to grow a baby it can't fit out of your pelvis.(althought they do).

So therefore, larger pelvis/feet = larger baby.

My DS's were 9lb.5 and 9lb. I'm 5' 8" with size 7 feet.

When I was born i was only 4.7lb and my mother struggled to get me out. Hmm

When I called her and told her my first born was 9.5 she literally didn't believe it.

im 5ft 8 and my babies were 9lb 1oz and 9lb 3.5oz...... my DSD's mum just had a nearly 10lb baby and she is 5ft 5

I had the same problem as PertuallyPregnant - suspected IUGR but as it turns out there was just more room to hide a baby in my 5'10" frame. Both of mine were on the small side, though - under 7lbs. But both, especially DD, were long with it.
