Inspired by the fabulous 'first weeks' thread, I have decided to add some TV boxsets to my Christmas list! So far I have only thought of Downton Abbey as have missed the series but hear it was brilliant.

So ladies, and recommendations for bleary eyed, baby brain, bfing viewing!?

Another vote for West Wing and House.

Personally, I'd avoid anything shake-your-bones-funny while actually bfing... my poor DD got milkshake while I worked that one out Grin

LDNlady · 06/11/2010 11:08

Well, I have never seen 24 so will be hijacking hubby's boxsets of that. I will probably also steal my mum's copious amounts of all the different CSIs. I want some comedy type stuff too so Scrubs, Family Guy and the like.

Thandeka · 06/11/2010 11:15

Nip tuck, footballers wives and bad girls. Mindless escapism. Oh and chuck.

Southsearocks · 06/11/2010 18:41

The Wire - all five series because you'll go through them like nobodys business - and watch it with subtitles! The slang is hard to follow sometimes. Smile

Cies · 06/11/2010 18:51

I watched Black Books and Spooks. Plus loads of films. I actually miss those days when all ds wanted was to be on the boob. Now I have to actually get up and play with him Grin

ilovemydogandMrObama · 06/11/2010 18:54

The Wire
House
Mad Men
Brothers and Sisters
West Wing
The Closer
Desperate Housewives

nymphadora · 06/11/2010 20:16

Anyone suggested Spaced?

dahu · 06/11/2010 20:19

Brothers and sisters
Gray's anatomy
One tree hill

katiepotatie · 06/11/2010 20:22

WestWing
Dexter
Mistresses
Californication

Another vote for sky+ too, I had weeks of Emmerdale to catch up on, while up with newborn Grin

readyornot2011 · 07/11/2010 19:44

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (not big here but great series)
Skins (don't dismiss it on the ads alone)
Scrubs
Prison break 1&2 (stop the Dvd 10 mins before the end of series 2 as they should have done and dont bother with any more)
Heroes
Sex in the city

yellowflowers · 07/11/2010 19:55

The Wire and West Wing both brilliant but I think they require too much concentration to do while doing something else.

How about In Treatment?

CakeCuresAll · 07/11/2010 19:55

Spaced - absolutely. Although it made me want t eat Jaffa cakes and I was already hungry enough whenever bf'ing!

Family guy
Firefly
Arrested Development
Stargate and battlestar galactica -yes I am a sci-fi geek Blush

And I always seemed to catch some rubbish show called Jericho at 5 am... I watched thinking it was a bit crap really but it still bothers me to this day that I never saw the ending.....what happened????

lowra · 07/11/2010 19:58

Can't believe noone's suggested The Sopranos. Best thing on TV ever.

lowra · 07/11/2010 20:02

The Sopranos does take quite a bit of concentration though and can be heavy going. Think my sky plus will be red hot making sure all the xmas rom coms and other mindless rubbish are taped ready for my April arrival.

Pottering · 07/11/2010 20:04

Star Trek The Next Generation and Star Trek Voyager

BoobBuffet · 07/11/2010 20:07

The Shield. A frikkin mazing.

mnistooaddictive · 07/11/2010 20:27

gray's anatomy
west wing
scrubs
gavin & stacey

Hopalongcassidy · 09/11/2010 05:04

West Wing all the way-watched the whole series once during preggy insomnia and again while bf
Buffy
Dawsons Creek

also watched the whole of the X-files-fab but not recommended. Not just because of the creepiness late at night, but also cos I got obsessed about the baby storyline towards the end, and was incensed that what happened was not realistic (v.sad!)

kellestar · 09/11/2010 14:01

Ask around your friends and see what they've got, save on buying new. I'm swapping my entire ER series with a friend at the moment for House. I'm also film exchanging as well.

I've also got a PVR, with freeview. I record so much stuff to watch later, stuff that DH hates. Plus you can skip through the ad breaks.

You can also hire box sets via lovefilm and other similar types of post back rentals. But it's worth having a subscription where you have three of four dvd's at a time, so you can flow, rather than getting impatient. Ask around your friends as I recommended a friend and they got the same package as me free for 3 months [and so did I].

aDarkStarWithStrangeWays · 10/11/2010 10:04

Oh, I forgot Futurama - the first four series are great.

MrsChris · 10/11/2010 20:40

Brilliant thread - was scouring Amazon only this morning for TV to get me through mat leave and bfing.

I've got Cold Feet and This Life on my wishlist, along with tons of period drama. It'll be a proper blub/hormone-fest!
