Why is the last 2 weeks the hardest of them all?

I am due next Friday and so am 38+5 weeks. I started maternity leave on Monday and am bored already. I have washed the baby clothes, cleaned the kitchen, put in my dry cleaning, organised some filing. Now i am just bored, bored, bored and desperate for the baby to arrive. I shouldn't complain as I am not that uncomfortable and still keeping active. I just don't have any family here in the UK and all my friends and DH are at work all day.

I have tried to watch tv but got even more bored. I am bouncing on my ball, going to the gym, doing yoga but it feels like time is going sooooo slowly. And I am quite sure this baby is going to be late so I wonder how the hell I am going to survive another 2 weeks of this.

Anyone in the same boat as me and just waiting for their babies to arrive. I feel bad even complaining because I haven't even reached my due date.

I just seems after 9 long months, this is water torture!!

In 5 weeks you will look back and want to smack your own self upside the head for complaining about being "bored" Wink.

For me Weeks10-12 were about the worst, I had terrible morning sickness.

Ragged - I am totally going to be mad at myself for not enjoying the time off. I know once the baby is born, being "bored" will not be a problem.

I think, tbh, it's just the impatience of wanting the baby to arrive that makes it worse!!

Actually, you are right, weeks 10-12 were horrendous. I remember being at work feeling like I was going to die!

Weeks 10-12 were worst for me too - but because I wanted to have the scan and be able to tell some more people!

I didn't get ms until about 15/16 weeks Confused

I wish I'd have had a couple more weeks maternity leave before DD arrived, so I could make the most of being on my own. Didn't realise I'd miss it that much!

If you can afford it, go and have a haircut, go to the cinema (there's no-one else there in the day to make you self conscious on your own). Do the sorts of things you can't do with a baby in tow.

But you're right, the impatience is a killer! Smile

In the words of Joey in Friends - you've described about 2 weeks of good chores there!!! Slow down, spread stuff out and only aim to achieve a couple of things a day. That's been my tack anyway!

How about Xmas cards, Xmas shopping etc...? You could do all that now and have it all ready in advance then.
