WARNING: ABBREVIATION OVERLOAD!

Hi there, I am currently 15 weeks pregnant after two previous MMC and ERPCs. At one point after first ERPC I did go to my GP as my periods had become really light and I was worried that something had gone wrong/that I had Ashermans (uterine scarring) - then I fell pg again, so didn't follow through; then had another MMC and after that decided not to try for another. However, unexpectedly I did fall PG again (something must have gone seriously wrong with my cycle as by scan date I would have conceived just after my very-short period ended!)

I didn't even mention my concerns about ERPC damage during booking-in with MW etc, as I honestly thought I would end up MC again... but here I am well along the way and made the mistake of googling what can happen if you fall PG with Ashermans and don't miscarry early on... premature birth, birth defects, hysterectomy...

Is there anything I can do to to find out if this is a risk? Additional scans etc? Has anyone gone through something similar?

Thanks in advance

Can I ask what happened with you? Did you have ashermans? I'm suspecting I have after numerous Erpc's and recently 2 mc's.

Hi faithhope, really sorry you've suffered so many miscarriages. What symptoms do you have, other than the mmc, that makes you suspect AS? Have you had a look at the AS org website? Www.ashermans.org

There is loads of information on there and also a brilliant Yahoo support group.
I was diagnosed with AS nearly 2 years ago and needed 2 operations but fell pregnant 3 months after the final op, sadly it ended in a miscarriage due to chromosomal abnormalities, but I was very fortunate and fell pregnant shortly after and am currently 18 weeks pregnant. The best piece of advise I can give you is to ensure you get treated by someone who knows what they are doing, the scar tissue should be cut away with micro scissors, never another D&C or use of a heat source, and usually a coil is put in place to try and prevent scar tissue reforming and a months of HRT is given to encourage the lining of the uterus to grow faster than the scar tissue can. There are 2 AS experts in the UK, Mr Lower and Mr Trew, PM me if you'd like their details, I have been treated by both.

Let me know if you have any questions or I can help at all
