I've just found out I'm pg with DC2 - very very early days (I found out yesterday!)

I take DS to waterbabies every Friday and sometimes their pool can be as warm as 36 degrees.

Apparently the reason you shouldn't swim in water as warm as this when pg is not because it might harm the baby, but because you might faint. This is what doc just told me over the phone, but then they said not to swim if I'm worried about Confused

Does anyone have any knowledge about this? I don't want DS to miss his swimming but equally I don't want to put my much longed for pg at risk.

TIA :)

And just back to your original question: it may be a bad idea to decide to suddenly start swimming loads and loads of laps for hours in a 36 degree pool if you'd never done it before. You'd probably get hot and dizzy (like in any exercise) and this would be exacerbated by the warm water.

So I don't think your doctor is technically wrong, but may be referring to serious hardcore prolonged lap swimming.

BUT just normal swimming, or bobbing around etc would be completely, completely fine.

Please note: this is just my opinions etc. Take with a pinch of salt :)

Thanks both - feeling much happier about carrying on with the swimming :)
