Hi all,
Now that I am 37 weeks, I have been told my mw that I can start drinking this rancid stuff but I'm not sure how much I'm supposed to take. Just one cup a day? It doesn't say on the packet!

i started drinking it at 34/35 weeks but i like the taste. If you dont like the taste you can get tablets from holland and barrett (some say these are better). I currently take 3 tablets a day (gonna increase to 4 at 37 weeks) and drink 2-3 cups a day. i'd drink more but i like my cuppa tea so dont want to cut it down anymore.

Butting in but is Holland and Barrett the only place to get this? I can't find it anywhere.

hi, i got the capsules from local health store. they must have had the tea too as she asked which one i wanted. can be taken from 28 weeks apparently.

:)

they prob do sell them in local health stores too, i looked in supermarkets, boots, superdrug, savers and chemists etc but never saw any so holland and barret were the only place for me.

Have got my packet ready to go...not started drinking it yet as have convinced myself that labour will miraculously start as soon as I have my first cup & I've not quite finished the ironing...
...but, apparently honey is supposed to make it taste nicer.

(also 37 weeks gone)

As far as I can make out, raspberry leaf tea/tabs won't start labour but might help the pushing stage go faster, by limbering up the uterus beforehand. I think the advice is to start on 1 cup/day and build up gradually to 4 cups, stopping if you get unusually strong contractions, although you might get some braxton-hick-ish type responses.

I'd like to take it but have been told that I shouldn't because I've had ishoos with high blood pressure. But unable to find out what that really means or if it's really true. Anyone know...? sorry for slight hijack! Blush

Wonderful stuff!

I had two cups a day during the last stages of both my pregnancies. The taste grows on you, especially with a spoonful of honey. It's also good in the early days after birth as it helps the uterus go back to its normal size and shape.

Best of all, if you have enough left over, it makes an excellent homemade wine :)

You should be able to get it in any health food shop/herbalist. I don't know about the high blood pressure thing though.

Yeh its not suppose to start labour earliy. Apparently its suppose to tone stuff (inside) and make the 2nd stage of labour go quicker, but some say it can cause strong bh if not gradually built up (not always tho) which is why they dont recommend it in 1st and 2nd trimester..
