Sinus pain - any suggestions?

I'm getting quite bad sinus headaches. Normally, I'm a fan of a bit of steaming of the face but that only works at home. I'm currently sat at my desk at work with no options.

It's bad enough that I've had to take the odd paracetamol but all that does is mask the symptoms. The pharmacist tell me no decongestents. Should I see a doctor to get something safe for pregnancy?

I had a problem with this lately and was told by the hospital "no decongestants". Paracetamol is fine and codeine can be used for pain if okayed by a doc. Steaming was the only thing the hospital could suggest that really helped, sorry,

Have been getting these recently too. Going out for some fresh air and drinking lots of water have improved them a bit, as well as finding the little 'notch' in the bones where your eyebrows are, and applying gentle pressure. Mine also seem to get better if I eat something for some reason.

Hope it gets better soon.

Weird, I have been getting a lot of sinus headaches in the last couple of weeks too - I think I am fighting off a cold. It is so painful and so wish I could take a neurofen! :(

You can buy a nasal spray, which will help with this. Kind of like the steaming, but in a handy bottle form for the office... You'll need to check with the pharmacist that it is okay for pregnant ladies, but I know that at the very least you can use a simple saline spray.

I saw a product advertised somewhere recently which is a saline/salt water nasal thing. Can't remember what it's called - sorry.

What a crap message! Sorry.

theres a spray called sterimar which my friend swears by and is suitable for us pregnant ladies. it's basically a saline solution that you spray up your nose as much as you can bear and it loosens all the nasties. costs about £6 a bottle (big bottle) and is availbale in most chemists.

see the doctor - the last sinus infection I had went beyond all other experiences I'd ever had. Very very nasty - I needed anti-b's & it took ages for them to kick in enough to diminish the pain. I was completely debilitated by it & not pregnant. I am now very very wary of sinus infections.
