Does sex really work?

I am 39+2 and want to give the baby a helpful nudge out, does sex really work or is it another myth like hot baths?

If I haven't gone into labour by my due date, I will be having a c-section. My consultant isn't going to give me to 42 wks.

I really would prefer a VABC to another c-section for many reasons so if I can do anything to encourage this baby out I will.
