Just found out this am that dc3 is on the way. Bit unexpected as was ttc with other 2 for a while, and this was a moment of madness at a time when I really didn't think it would matter [hblush].
Anyway, am delighted, but am prob 5/6 weeks pg, hadn't thought I could be until nausea yesterday, and so have had masses and masses to drink each weekend for the last 3 weeks. Just odd timing, birthdays, a wedding, and to be honest, sometimes just wanting/needing wine after non stop wingeing all day....
Feeling shaky at the damage I could have done to the little thing.
Has anyone else any experience of this?

Yep, I was exactly the same - found out I was pregnant the morning after a very heavy hen night, and the previous few weekends had been birthdays, parties and general silliness. Went to the doctors feeling like the worst person to have ever walked the earth, only to be told that as long as I stopped drinking from now and wasn't alcohol dependent or suffering liver failure then all would be fine. 16 + 3 now and so far so good! :)

Yes, I got completely trashed at a barbecue during early pregnancy (about 4 or 5 weeks in, just before I missed my period), and the midwife just laughed and said not to do it again, but not to worry now. I'm now 22 weeks and everything seems to be fine - I've had 2 scans now and the blood test for abnormalities and the baby appears totally normal and non-pickled. I bet yours is perfectly fine!

Thank you, thank you.
(for your reassuring comments, and not being judgemental about my appalling behaviour...)
DH is so excited, and I've just been feeling bit teary....
Hope all continues to go well for you both [hsmile]

For various reasons I spent an incredibly large proportion of the first two weeks of my pregnancy very drunk (the proper first two weeks rather than the two that you're not pregnant). I'm now 14 weeks, and baby seems fine.

I've tried not to worry about it too much as it seems to happen to a lot of women who then go on to have healthy babies.

I had a hen do and my work leaving drinks and got absolutely trashed at both before discovering I was pg. Again, mw laughed and said not to do it again.

Am now 17+3 with no problems.

I too had loads to drink before discovering to my great surprise I was pregnant. But all was well, don't worry.

Cakemuncher · 28/10/2010 12:50

Same here. I think this happens ALL the time.

glitterdust · 28/10/2010 13:46

Thank you.
I just wish I hadn't been so dozy, and had thought to do a test LAST week.
Hope my mw laughs too...
Now I need to start the excuses as to why not drinking - starting tonight as supposed to be having a wine tasting (ie getting trashed) with friends. Normally, spend my life staying in watching crap TV, but have more big nights looming....

I think the majority of women have this guilty feeling but I'm sure someone told me that for the first month or so your little embryo is well protected. If you think about it, how did women know they were pregnant years ago? It was only through a missed period (or a fortune teller [hgrin] ) so mother nature had to give us extra protection at first.

I was smoking 30 a day until I my bfp at 4 1/2 weeks and stopped immediately and am now 25 weeks and all is well (that I know of...) but I still find myself wishing I could turn back time and do it differently.

You'll be fine Smile
