Hiya, I am 12 wks pg, it seems I have lost couple of kgs in last few months, though I feel fat and frumpy, now I am worried am eating enough? I am around 7.6 stones and petite girl of 5'2" , I would really want healthy big baby! :)

here is what I get through in a day..

Breakfast: glass of orange juice, one egg and two granary toasts with butter and honey
snack: usually fruits and bit of nuts
lunch: soup and half a sandwich/toastie
snack: again fruit and nuts and sometimes yogurt
dinner: meat/fish with pasta/rice

You think I am eating tool little? whats yours like? any advice?

wow thats a really healthy diet Smile i think its just about spot on, to be honest so many on m/n suffer from morning sickness that half would probably take your right arm off to be able to eat that!!! Me included!! I'm 21+4 and still can't face as much as you (not saying you eating too much God you have to be so careful how you word things sometimes!!) Anyway my point being just eat what you can when you can and not to worry too much about calories especially if you have lost a few in the begining.

That is healthy diet, putting me to shame! I ate mainly carb-based rubbish from 6-12 weeks due to feeling sick and being very fussy but at 19 weeks I'm eating about the same as I was before I was pregnant. Yesterday's food, IIRC -

Bowl of porridge with glass of orange juice
Apple and nuts
Vegetable soup plus three sausage rolls
Strawberry milkshake
4 mini chocolate bars
2 satsumas
blueberry muffin
Chilli con carne with rice
Yoghurt
Half a bag of liquorice allsorts... (Blush)

I don't know what I weigh at the moment (no scales at home) but was 54kg at my booking appointment (I'm 5'8) and have really only got bigger round the middle. I'm eating whatever I fancy, but am paying more attention to the food groups - like making sure to eat more calcium and fruit/veg now. I technically have a low BMI (was referred by midwife for shared care because of it) so if anything am trying to make sure I put enough weight on. If you've lost weight (assuming you've not been suffering bad morning sickness) it may be a sign that your body needs a bit more fuel at the moment.

There was a thread a few weeks ago (sorry I don't know how to search) where lots of us posted our 'normal' pregnancy daily diet to compare. It was quite useful.

It was definitely within the last month so if you can search of just look back you might find it.

I am eating a similar amount to you:

Poached egg & granary toast and butter, orange juice & tea

Banana & tea

Sandwich on granary bread (tuna, chicken or ham) with salad and homemade coleslaw

Apple

Chicken stirfry, or homemade curry, or vegi pasta, or jacket potato with filling, or chicken/salmon with new pots & veg, etc.

And a couple of pieces of dark chocolate.

Forgot to mention I lost weight in the first trimester, and have since gained about half a stone. Had a high-ish BMI to start with though.

How big are your portions? Maybe you're eating surprisingly small amounts of things? I don't know! I thought you were meant to eat about 2000 calories a day for the first 6 months, and I don't know if your average day would fit into that, because so much depends on portion size. Try a calorie counter online like the one at Glamourdiets.com.

I dont count calories but eat when im hungry and try to make it as heathy as possible. Yesterday was a good day for me in terms of food but today im not very hungry at all. Iv put on about 10lb and am now 24 weeks but lost a lot between 6-12 due to bad ms. Although all my weight is my tummy and i still have very small bump.

I ate like a pig during pg1 - was permanently starving. Monster sized baby was the result.
Ate normally during pg2 - if slightly less than usual because of raging heartburn. Still had a good sized baby.
Now pg again and just eating as I normally do - relatively healthy and balanced diet with the odd treat here or there.
Remember the total lack of booze probably means most of us are consuming far fewer calories than we do normally Grin

Hi BusyBee, I think you are eating very well. Don't push yourself to eat more if you are not hungry. My doctor said that the fetus is like a "parasite" and will get all nutirition it needs from mother (and one does not need to eat like a horse)...

I am also 12 weeks. My pre-pregnancy BMI was 16. I ate the first 9 weeks the same as pre-pregnancy (I think around 1400-1500 calories per day), but recently started getting hungrier and the last couple of weeks have been eating around 1700-1800 calorie per day. I have no food cravings and have always stuck to a very balanced diet which I am maintaining... I have not gained any weight yet. I have not had any morning sickness. I have been practicing yoga 6 times per week. I am hoping to not eat more than 200-300 calories more than pre-pregnancy going forward in 2-3 trimester and gain no more than 1 pound per week (not sure if this is achievable). I think it is healthy and the notion of eating for two has long been abandoned in modern medicine...
