Ok so am not even pregnant yet, but have been charting for months and cant wait to TTC from next month Smile

We have just (yesturday) come back from a lovely holiday in Greece, and have decided that next year we want one last holiday together alone...

Probably June / July when fingers crossed ill be maybe 5 - 7m pregnant.

I dont want it to be too hot. (high 20's perhaps, but ideally not 30s) and want to be confident enough to eat the food without worrying too much.
(my cousin lost her baby at 13weeks a couple of months ago, due to food poisoning Sad, so am extra worried) also dont want a particularly long flight while pg.

any ideas for places, or even specific hotels where you would be happy to stay and eat while 5 - 7m pregnant please

nannyl DH and I were discussing just this over the weekend, he'd like a week somewhere warm next month, perhaps the Canaries, we've never been and i'm not sure if a, I fancy there or b, if I even want to leave the country whilst pregnant. We normally have our main hols at the end of march to coincide with our anniversary and go somewhere long haul to ensure sunshine but i'll be 32 weeks then so if we do go away it will be UK only. I'd love one last romantic break before DC arrives but don't know where?
Am I being a scaredy cat not wanting to leave the UK and the NHS just in case anything happens?

Nannyl, sorry i wasn't much help there with suggestions. Normandy, Brittany and the Channel Island are lovely in June and the food is fab.

hmm at 7 months youd be restricted for flights
what about super luxutry in uk? somewhere v unchild friendsly!

I went to the South of France in September at 26 weeks and it was lovely.

I wouldn't fly long-haul, anywhere that needs vaccinations or anywhere you might have concerns about food poisoning or healthcare.

If you book it soonish, make sure your travel insurance will cover cancellation due to pregnancy health issues. However, that probably wouldn't help if you get to June and are just too tired/achey to enjoy the trip you've booked (personally I'd wait and see).

FWIW you may also be setting yourself up for disappointment expecting to fall pregnant straight away. Even with charting and having enough sex at the right times, it can take some months - and that assumes you don't have any MCs.

Killjoy warning!
I've has two MCs so with this pg, I wouldnt leave the country, in case I needed medical attention. We went to a scottish island when I was 24 weeks, and I had such a sore pelvis I could barely do anything! So even if I had been on a desert island I wouldnt have enjoyed the holiday all that much.

Also, you'd be amazed at how much the heat will get you down at that stage.
BUT, whatever you do, please remember to keep your FACE out of the sun. If you get the "mask of pregnancy", caused by sun exposure, it does NOT go away. SO please be careful.

Hi

I hope my experiences might help you.

I went to Cuba for 2 weeks whilst 8-9 weeks pregnant. We had booked the holiday before I fell pregnant and it was meant to be a 'baby making' holiday!

On one hand it was lovely to be away from work and questions before we were ready to go public with the pregnancy. On the other hand, I had a heavy bleed and was unable to get it checked out until I got back so it probably caused a lot of unnecessary worry.

We also went on a planed holiday to Venice for a week when I was 18 weeks pregnant in September. It was a lovely time to go as I was still able to get around and was definately in the 'blooming' stage of pregnancy. Venice is one of those places that you walk round lots, I just took more coffee/ice cream breaks than I would normally.

Even though it was one of those cheapy flights with no room at all - it was only a few hours long, so no problem at all.

I'd suggest having a look at the cheap flight websites and seeing what you fancy. Our flights only cost £30 each, so we knew that if I wasn't up to it, we could just not go without a big problem. Barcelona, Rome, Berlin, Paris etc would all be lovely and romantic (and not too far away!)

We have planned a few nights in a posh hotel nearby just after I start my maternity leave. My other half will still go to work from the hotel and I am going to spend the days in the pool/spa/bed and we'll have a few meals out in the evenings. Am really looking forward to it.

IMO its a great idea to have a holiday when pregnant - but I'd concentrate on the getting pregnant part first! Maybe plan a 'baby making' holiday first?

thanks for all these suggestions

Like the idea of venice or paris, not too far away.

I have done the channel islands (and brittany /normandy loads), and id really like to do channel islands WITH some potential children Smile

(I realise i might not get pg striaght away, etc, but im trying to be positive and hope it will happen soon enough Smile)
