12wk scan/midwife question

Hello there,

I've been lurking for a while on here now but refused to believe this, my first pregnancy, was going to happen until my scan on Fri, when the little thing was there waving (I also took the scary tone of the letter saying 'you must come with a full bladder' to the extreme, so much so that the sonographer could hardly believe how full my bladder was!)

Now, this might be a silly question, but after the scan the sonographer gave me my notes and said to make sure I told the receptionist that a midwife should see them. Is this just standard practice so they can check everything over? There wasn't actually a midwife on at the time so nobody has checked them. Now I'm wondering whether I should call my MW about it? I have an appointment next Thur anyway.

I asked the sonographer if everything was ok and she said it was and that they just needed to keep making sure the baby was growing properly. I'm at the stage of worrying about EVERYTHING.

Any advice much appreciated.

x

have you already seen your midwife and had booking appt etc?

whenever i had my scans i was just told to put my notes into my big pink notes and take them to my next MW appt.

not sure why the receptionist needs to know that, unless they forward the notes on for you?

congratulations btw!

Congrats on the pregnancy - it's just wonderful when you see the little thing alive and kicking on the screen isn't it?!

Why don't you call the receptionist and check if the sonographer would have meant your usual midwife appt or a special one? That should clear it up.

I saw my community midwife for my booking appointment at 6 weeks and then had my dating scan as normal at 12 weeks at the hospital. During this appointment I had my scan and also saw a midwife who went through my blood results, gave me my customized antenatal growth chart, booked my appointment for Anit-D injections, gave me my blood test forms for triple testing etc and told me to see my community midwife again at 16 weeks.
How things are done varies so much from area to area so this might not be what happens where you are. If you are worried then phone your midwife and double check.

Thanks all.
I've already had my booking appointment, bloods etc two weeks ago. It sounded like the sonographer was asking the receptionist to get the midwife on duty to look at my notes, but yes, it wasn't clear.
I will call my midwife in the morning, just to check. I find it strange how much it varies from region to region!
