Hi Am having a bit of anxiety but can't talk to dh about it as i'm the 'medical' one and I know he's a bit freaked out so I'm trying to be re-assuring.

I popped in to see a friend yesterday as I wanted to drop off some stuff about sleep for her. She invited me in but luckily I said I could only stay 5 mins. Anyway she is in a right pickle as she has just found out she is pg and her toddler was diagnosed with slapped cheek yesterday. She's got to go for blood test etc due to the risk posed to the pregnancy and is understandably very anxious.

I am 18+ weeks and at the time thought it was just first trimester that women were affected but have since discovered it is up to 20 weeks.

Am trying to stay rational, was only there 5 mins, am probably immune anyway (60% of us are) but think I am going to be silently freaking out until my scan in 2 weeks.

Sorry for the long post

Phone your MW for a bit of reassurance. You're right, it seems incredibly unlikely you'll be affected if you were only there for 5 minutes, but sometimes it helps to hear it from a professional.

My son contracted Slap cheek when I was 9 weeks pregnant. I took him to the Dr who said it was dangerous for women 12 weeks pregnant and under. Anyway I had a blood test and I'm immune. I think you have to actually catch it to affect your baby.
