Does this sound like SPD?

i'm 26 weeks pg with DC3 and have started getting odd feelings in my legs, a friend mentioned SPD but i'm not so sure.

My symptoms:

Twinges in inner thigh on one side that go right up into my groin usually when walking

My leg seems to almost give way at times

I haven't had any clicking feelings and the pain isn't bad so much as annoying but its only been a few days so far.

Any advice is greatly welcomed!

Hi there

There are quite a few ways in which SPD can manifest itself. I have it pretty badly but I don't have clicking. My legs do give in sometimes, almost as if they have forgotten how to work. I would say that I have pain rather than twinges so it might not be. I would ask to be referred to a physio (an obstetrics one if possible) and see what they say. If it is SPD they can give you exercises to do that should help, especially at such an early stage.

Hope this helps

I have spd/pgp, it developed around 20 weeks but is mainly pain in my lower back and the front of my pelvis. I've had physio and have excercises which helps. My legs haven't been affected at all, except that I can only take little steps now! I haven't had any clicking either. I would recommend being referred, only a physio will be able to tell for definite if you've got spd.

My SPD started the same as yours and Im now with a phsyio who is fantastic! Defo see a doctor as soon as possible as the sooner you get there, the better your chances of it, not going, but becoming managable!

Good luck!

See a physio - even if it isn't SPD (and it doesn't sound like it tbh) then they may be able to help. It sounds more like a hip issue.

SPD is at the front of your pelvis. PGP (Pelvic Girdle Pain) can be at the back (SI joints) or all round.
