Moving to Witney/Oxfordshire - Hospital recommendations?

i'm 24 weeks and just about to move to the Witney area of Oxon. I have to have a consultant-led birth, due to back problems, so which are the best hospitals in that area? Do any of them have a midwife-led unit within the hospital? Do any have active birth centres?

I'd like to go somewhere that's not too caaserean-happy - not that I'm against having one if it's necessary, but my back problems are very minor and the hospital where I'm moving from have really been pushing for me to go c-section.

Hi Diamondback I'm in the opposite situation I currently live in Oxfordshire and looks like I'll have to move before the baby comes (I'm currently 28+5) I highly recommend the John Radcliffe in Oxford. They have been wonderful with me. They have both a consultant-led and a midwife-led unit, both in the same building just 2 floors apart which takes a lot of the worry out of opting for the MLU. I have no reason to think they are CS happy. It's a teaching hospital so they seem to be ahead of the game with most things. They also have fairly reliable parking which is increasingly rare these days!

Where have you moved from?

Thanks ready [hsmile]

I'm moving down from Birmingham. The Good Hope (where I was booked in) is low-rated, but on the other hand does have a MLU within the main hospital and an active birth centre with birthing pools. The JR sounds great - fingers crossed...
