Hi, looking for some advice (again). I posted on the 'anyone due Jan 2004' thread about my embarrasing incicdent when I fainted in Debenhams at the weekend. At the time, my blood pressure and blood sugar were a bit low and when i was discharged from A&E my BP was 108/68. I've just seen my mw who checked my bp again and it was 95/60. I have no idea what these figures mean and was wondering if somebody could help- what is the 'normal' range? I have been told that fainting is relatively common -almost normal- in pregnancy but I am really worried about fainting again as it was such a horrible experience.
My blood tests have come back and I'm not anaemic so my gp said it was probably a combination of heat/ bp/ deyhdration and pregnancy in general.
MW listened to the heartbeat today so baby is OK, which is one less thing to worry about, as it was a concern.
Any experts with some advice out there? TIA

Not brill on the technical bit of blood pressure, but had a similar problem to you circa 19/20 weeks. My lowest was 98/55 which is still classed as normal, but on the very low side of normal.

Top number is the pressure when the blood flow is stopped I think, and bottom number is when the blood flow restarts. My midwife says she tends to be most interested in the bottom number. I think as long as it is above 55 and below 90 it's classed as normal. (although I searched for definitives on low blood pressure on the internet and found very little information).

It does start to rise again as the pregnancy procedes. Apparently its quite normal to see a dip in the second trimester.

I have carried around a bottle of water and a tracker bar since, and if I don't feel so good, tuck in. Haven't passed out since.

Hayls - your blood pressure os on the lower side of normal, which is normal IYKWIM. Good advice from myersthecat. Make sure you have something to eat and drink when you feel a bit off. Eat and drink regularly and avoid standing for prolonged periods. Hopefully you won't have any more fainting episodes.
