Fundal height measurement

Hi ladies, I'm 25 +4 and had my first fundal measurement today. The uterus is measuring big for me being 25wks, the midwife stated if it was the same next month I would be referred to the hospital. When i queried what this meant she stated it could just mean I'm having a large baby but measurements may even out in later weeks.

Did any of you ladies who've have babies or are at the latter stages have this happen? What did it result in or did it even out?

Hi, when i was 24+4 i was measuring 27cms and was panicking thinking i was growing a giant, at my last check i was 34+4 and measured 35 so seem to have evened out. fundal height is notoriously innacurate for measuring baby's size as many things can cause higher than expected readings, such as the length of your torso, how much fluid you are carrying, weak tummy muscles.
How much bigger are you measuring? Try not to worry, i think if you measure more than 3-4cms in either direction more than once they send you for a scan to check for growth issues, but as i say it may just be fluid, or if it is a very big baby they can plan your birth more carefully if required (bear in mind weights est by scan can also be out by approx 20% too)
FWIW a friend of mine was measuring about 6 weeks ahead at 31w and was sent for a growth scan, turns out she was carrying a lot of fluid, baby was just over 7lb when born
as lots of other Mners keep saying, you will rarely grow a baby too big for you.
good luck xx

i think they are not very accurate at all my fundal height was always higher than it should have been, but i wasnt concerned by bump never really grew out its just grew up loads. my baby was born 2 weeks late weighing just over 6 and half pound so try not to worry. at the moment im 14+2 with my 2nd and my fundal height is already nearly 20cm but im not worried at all

I was measuring about 28, so a few centimeters over what the 'norm' is. Im 5ft 10 and my partner is 6ft 2 so i'm just thinkin how could the baby be anything but big! I'm not worried as such, its just if I have to be induced then I can't go for the waterbirth I've always wanted :( and of course as a first timer i worry if its huge how i will cope as i want as little pain relief as possible.

thanks ladies, mine a little more at ease :)
