Maternity Photo, anyone had one ?

Thats it really Smile

As a gift someone bought be a maternity photo shoot, i'm 32 weeks.

I just wondered if anyone on here has had one done and if they could offer me any advice about them ? I'm not sure about what i should wear and how i should pose Blush

I do not like my face so i'm thinking of a headless shot, also contemplating taking my 2 year old so she could be in the pic too, but not sure if that might be a disaster as she's a bit of a handful.

Anyway it would be really nice to hear experiences from anyone thats had one done (obviously i'll be hoping they're able to do a fair bit of airbrushing afterwards to brush away my zebra print stretch marks Smile )

We did one. The photographer will have loads of ideas for poses, or you can Google images to get ideas.
I wore jeans, which for some shots they wrapped gauze/chiffon around so it looks like I'm just wearing gauze/chiffon, same around my breasts. Result looked great!
I think the toddler shots would be fun too - may as well give it a go, if they don't work, you just have the ones without her.

Don't think I've been much help, just to say relax, trust the photographer, and enjoy!

(And post up your photos after!)

P.S. I have one photo on my profile from the bump shoot - it's the one that says 'at 32 weeks'.

Sazisi · 18/10/2010 00:21

I wish I had.

I've seen some lovely ones - there are few things in this world as beautiful as a pregant woman. You have to get a photo of your DD kissing the bump :)

Sazisi · 18/10/2010 00:22

pregnant I mean Blush

Erm...
WARNING: link not what you would call work or DCfriendly...

NeedToSleepZZZ · 18/10/2010 08:53

Ha ha ha ha, solid, that's brilliant!

Another link (but a bit cleaner than last one Wink ) here

www.ephe-mere.fr/Bienvenue.html

It's a friend of a friend's site so excuse the French but have a look at the 'gallerie' for some ideas, really beautiful.

ilovefirelighters · 18/10/2010 09:11

i recently had my bump painted at my baby shower by a friend, it was a brilliant thing to do and got some pics i will treasure forever. my step mother has a friend who is into photography and only needs a bump to complete her port folio. i wasnt keen as she wanted a 'bare bump' im not so comfortable with that. however would love some pics done in some nice outfits. give it some thought about what you would feel comfortable doing and maybe take dp or a friend who is good with your lo they could perhaps take her out of room while you carry on, it is ment to be a treat for you. think id make it a family affair and get dp and dd in their too!!

Violet5 · 18/10/2010 09:21

Thankyou everyone Smile

And AbFabT your pic is great, you have a really lovely selection of pics on infact.

I'm quite nervous about going as most pics of me i really don't like, very few of me actually exsist,i didn't even like my wedding pics Sad, my husband looked great, just a shame i was in them too.

Thanks for the link NeedToSleepZZZ , and solid ha ha i think thats one pose that i might give a miss !

DP took some of me in the garden, and I was really pleased with them. I wore a long floaty skirt and a cropped tie-front garden and wafted around looking all Earth-mothery which isn't me at all!!!

SolidButShamblingUndeadBrass · 18/10/2010 09:57

It was cold tea in the bottle BTW... some of the other pics in that shoot involved swigging the stuff and spitting it at the camera I do have another more 'normal' one somewhere taken about 3 weeks before DS arrived.

AbFabT · 20/10/2010 00:02

Thanks, Violet5. Sorry to hear you didn't like your wedding photos. Maybe you'll fare better with the bump photos. Good luck, and have fun.

AnyFuleKno · 20/10/2010 00:36

Is that you in the pic Solid? Was it an interview with you or just modelling?

lou19 · 20/10/2010 00:46

Violet, if you have a good experience would you mind posting on here the name of the company you had the shoot with? You inspired me, think I'll look into it now!:)

SolidButShamblingUndeadBrass · 20/10/2010 12:35

AFK: It was an article I wrote for a magazine about sex when you're PG and single.

AnyFuleKno · 20/10/2010 20:29

oo

I have done pregnancy photos as a photographer and I am booked in for 35 weeks for my bump pics.

From my experience with taking photos there are lots of good poses that can be flattering and if your anything like me a soft light will hide a lot of blemishes like stretch marks etc (although these are easy to photoshop out anyway) you may want to think about accessories I often used little baby booties on the bump or flowers and petals. Your partners shirt can be nice to cover you up as well as silk scarves and muslins. If you bring your daughter it could be nice but you may need your partner to look after her as there will be light and wires that coulod be dangerous but may be nice to have all of you in a pic as well.

From a mum point of view I am going a bit wild and doing full length pics and nudes also having my hubby in a few but have a chat with the photographer they may have some good ideas. It is in there best interest to do a good job as it will reflect well on their portfolio and you may come back year on year with baby pics etc.

Goodluck x x x

FindingMymOOOOOOOOjo · 21/10/2010 11:29

At about 37 weeks I stripped off in front of a friend & got her to take some nudy bump snaps with a wee cardy my Mum knitted & a bunch of flowers - I did feel quite embarassed but actually a couple of the photos were excellent & I am glad I did it.

This time I'll take some clothed - there's only so much you can inflict on a friend.

Enjoy your session.

AbfabT - just looked at your profile, well done for raising your baby vegan!

I used to be vegan for a while and never felt better, but am now back to being lacto-ovo veg. Sad thing is is it was probably because after moving from London to Manchester then to Devon I found it increasingly difficult to eat out/shop and I was also feeling increasingly guilty about the panic and "trouble" I caused when I was a dinner guest! Though actually I personally think it's incredibly easy and cheap to cater for a vegan!

If only the rest of the world were a bit more clued up - I have had a few raised eyebrows since being pregnant even for being veggie - but ironically most vegans/veggies I know are extremely knowledgable about how to keep their diet balanced and are probably more likely to get everything they need. You look like an incredibly healthy family to me anyway, good luck!

AbFabT · 21/10/2010 20:20

Thanks, RoxieP. :)

I was just about to suggest you join us on the vegan thread, but I see you found it for yourself - I'll go jabber over there rather than hijack this one!
