I'm 19wks +1 today.

Yesterday as I was driving I felt a hot 'rippy' sensation on my stomach above my belly button. It only lasted for 1 or 2 seconds.

Anyway, I haven't felt the baby move since then. I've been feeling him once or twice a day, and always when I go to bed, for the last 5 days.

Do you think I should be worried? I've got my 19 week scan on Monday so will find out either way then.

I don't think you should be over worried, but I would ring the midwife. They may ask you in for monitoring, it happens all the time and is very routine if movements reduce. I had monitoring in both my pgs and all was fine. But I reiterate it is unlikely to be anything to be overly concerned about.

Should add that my movement reduction was much later on so the procedure might be quite different at nineteen weeks.

Thanks littlebylittle.

I've still not felt anything but trying not to read anything into it.

well, whether we think you should be worried or not is irrelevant, you are worried, and therefore need to speak to or see a MW for some reassurance

at 19 weeks, movement can not always be felt and if your placenta is anterior then movements can be muffled, so you are less likely to feel them

it's saturday now, you've got a long way to wait until monday for your scan, i would call the antenatal ward at the hospital and ask for advice

misdee · 16/10/2010 14:00

if you havent felt anything for 24hours i would be calling in.

Thank you for replies everyone.

I've felt a couple of faint movements now. I think baby must have moved round to a less 'kicky' position.

Baby might have rolled over, mine did around the same time and gave me quite a scare, he sort of went missing for 24 hours but came back with a good strong kick :) After that I could sort of tell when he rolled over and it was a little less scary.

I'm learning (now at 38 weeks Grin )if you're concerned about something, never feel silly and just wait, you're just going to stress (my GP and midwife have scolded me for not calling) give the GP or midwife a ring and ask, or call the community midwife number. It will make you feel better and that's why they're around.

Hope your appointment goes well!
