Cramping/bleeding - 4 weeks pregnant

Hey, am very worried and thought i would share my story to see if anyone has any advise for me!!

Just found out on Monday im about 4 weeks pregnant. On Tuesday I had cramping all day ( not sore enough i couldnt walk, just very uncomfortable) . Then i had a few dops of red blood ( sorry if TMI) .

I went to AE and they give me a scan which nothing was visible as it was too early to see a sac etc. But she did mention the lining of my uterus was very thick which was good, and advised it could have been implantation bleeding.

Wednesday, cramps were gone, got a few twinges during day but that was it. then I had a bit of brown discharge.

I have to go back for a blood test tonight and will find out what my HGC levels are tomorrow so all will tell.

Just worrying myself sick here, My Bf and I want this baby so much :( I havnt really had any symptoms throughout apart from sensitive nipples which are still the same.

Has anyone else experienced this? It really sounds like a miscarriage to me , ive read so much into them and just scared myself . Any stories shared would be much appreciated :)

Hiya,

I know it is really worrying, but it could just be implantation bleeding. And that crampy feeling can be just a normal symptom of early pregnancy - I certainly had that until about 7 weeks pregnant.

I know it's really hard, but it might just be a bit of a waiting game. Miscarriages I've had have been later on (e.g. 9 or 10 weeks) but from what I've read from other MNers, they can happen in all sorts of different ways (and likewise, symptoms of early pregnancy vary widely - lots of women have bleeding in early pregnancy and it's fine).

Sorry that isn't conclusive help, but I didn't want your post to go unanswered, and I just wanted you to know there are lots of ladies around here who've experienced similar and will hopefully have some advice for you.

Best of luck.

Hi Lauralush I might not be much help but i'll try and I didn't want your post to go unanswered. In my first pregnancy I had implantation bleeding at 4 weeks and it was brown blood. They do say that brown blood is old blood and not necesarrily a bad thing.I have had 3 miscarriages; on two occasions I started to bleed but it was really heavy and continuos and the other time I didn't bleed at all, in fact I didn't know anything was wrong until I went for a scan. What I'm really trying to say is just because you're bleeding it doesn't necessarily mean bad news. There are hundreds of posts on here by ladies who bled through their pregnancy. As for the cramps in early pregnancy their is a lot of stretching and period like pains but it's all normal. As for symptoms, in my first pregnancy i had absolutely none, no sickness, no sore boobs, nothing - still resulted in a healthy baby though. I know it's easier said than done but please try not to worry. Let me know how you get on tomorrow x

You need your HCG levels to be checked 48-72 hours apart as it is how much they are rising that is most important, not what the level actually is. They should double every 48-72 hours.

I am 5-6 weeks pregnant. 1st pregnancy. I had brown bleeding and pains for 1 week which turned to red bleeding with pains for 2 days. Now it has diminished to very small spotting brown blood again and the pains have nearly gone. Boy I have felt ill this last 2 weeks. Anyway, I was really worried too but Im starting to think it could just be a heavy case of implantation bleeding and the doctors, midwife, NHS direct folks agree. We must both have a good thick lining hey? Also the stories I got back from others on mums net were very positive and one lady who had a similar thing but much heavier and longer duration than mine, now has a healthy 22 month old baby. Great news for us hey. Good luck with everything and try to relax.

I'm so sorry, heartfelt hugs

In answer to the chances of it happening again, I just wanted to say that I had a very early miscarriage (or chemical pregnancy as it can be called) a couple of months ago, when I was under 5 weeks. I was so upset but was lucky to fall pregnant during my next cycle- I am now 8 weeks and fingers crossed things are going well.

I was told that a woman is very fertile after an early miscarriage, and this seems to have been the case with me.

I'm not sure if that helps but I want you to know there is hope. I hope you're ok and have lots of support xx

lauralush04 · 16/10/2010 17:04

thanks rubbersoul. Thats made me feel a bit better knowing that you were able to conceive quickly after . Its the worst feeling in the world, having something you want so badly being taken away from you :( So glad that everything is going well for you now after going through what i just went through.

Just gonna keep busy and not think about it now as hard as it is, but stress just makes it worst. and hopefully in a month il be back on and in the same position as you :)

baby dust to us both . thanks again xx

It is so horrible- I was so upset and disappointed but we decided to try straight away as we felt there was no need to wait. I always know when I ovulate as I have a very regular cycle, but due to what happened I wasn't sure if I would ovulate earlier or later than usual so we didn't take any chances and made sure we were very 'active' throughout the whole month Blush

It's hard but do stay busy and I promise you that things will get better. I will be looking out for you- I hope it works out Smile xx

Lauralush I'm so sorry x

DancingCat · 16/10/2010 17:55

Hi Lauralush - am really sorry Sad
I had a very early miscarriage at the end of February, at about 4 weeks, devastated as we'd been trying for a while, but we didn't wait to try again and we are now 26 weeks pregnant with a little boy and all going well.
Lots of love x

stillfrazzled · 16/10/2010 19:39

Really sorry to hear it was bad news, lauralush.

I had the same thing (4 weeks 3 days) in January, conceived again 2 weeks later and lost that one at 9 weeks - but got pg again about two months after that and am now 24 weeks!

It is surprisingly, and sadly, and horribly common, but the chances are still overwhelming that your next pg will be just fine and you'll have your baby.
