Constant braxton hicks ... should I be worried?

I have been having braxton hicks since very early on in this pg (I'm 32 wks with dc2) although I didn't know thats what they were at first.

They have gradually got more frequent and are now at the point where I'm having loads. This has been going on for a few days now and I'm slightly concerned. For example, I was driving home from work this evening, this takes about 35 mins and I had 5! I've had about 8 (that I've counted) more since. Is this normal? Should I be concerned?

TIA x

I think some people get really bad braxton hicks and it is quite normal, but it you should talk to your midwife just to be sure. It might be worth them checking that you don't have a missed urine infection for example. The body can sometimes react to such things by trying to start labour early.
They can deal with it easily if it is that, by giving you antibiotics.

I would call your midwife just to see how she feels. I started contracting at 19 weeks. Now, at 24 weeks, I'm having loads (although possibly not as many as you). I'll have 5 or 6 one hour, then none for an hour, then a few, and so on. I mentioned it to my doc and they're keeping an eye on my cervix length (which is fine) and did a swab to check for possible UTI and for a hormone that can indicate pre-term labor. Everything is fine. It really helped put my mind at rest.

Most likely you're absolutely fine, but it's always nice to have a midwife tell you not to worry.

lullabellesmummy - I'm 38+5 and have been getting loads, to the point where they wake me up in the night, and I can't walk more that a few paces without getting one - at much the same frequency you describe.

I remember on holiday at 27 weeks getting 5 on the walk into the village (20 mins or so?) My DH's face went white every time I mentioned it (we were abroad!)

I would check if you are worried, but I had these from early on with two previous pregnancies too, they were nothing to worry about and both went to term.

One tip, if they are coming really fast, go for a wee, whether you think you need to or not, as I'm sure needing the loo steps up their frequency!!
