Scan at 9 wks, it's going to be internal isn't it?

Got a scan tomorrow. By lmp dates I'll be 9+4. I had a dating scan with my last pregnancy at 10+5 and it was a normal external one on the tummy, no problems, but I'm guessing this will have to be an internal will it?

Despite having had 2 dc and no dignity left to cling on to i'm strangely worrying about this prospect (think it's displacement worry to avoid worrying about whether all is ok or not)

oh yes, that's right. I have a retroverted uterus too so sometimes difficult to see because bowel in the way. Frankly internal scan less unpleasant than the sonographer trying to shove bowel out of the way with scan thingy.

Well, I got a letter through today saying full bladder so all my worry was for nothing on that front!

I'd forgotten how incredibly anxious I always get before a scan... will be glad when it's done.

i went for one, they couldn't get a great picture externally (turned out I was 8 weeks)so sent me out for a wee and then did an internal. it is less invasive and uncomfortable than a smear test, really, not a big deal at all. I was smirking like a teenager that they put a condom over the probe so maybe that distracted me!

Just in case anyone is checking back, all was fine, baby measuring a week behind lmp dates but that was what I expected as I tested negative on due date and then positive a week later. So I'm 8+5 Grin [huge relief]

Yay, I was checking back Grin, so pleased for you, congratulations!

Glad to hear it all went well, now you can concentrate on other important matters. Like what you can/can't face eating today & whether a second bar of chocolate is ok Grin

I'm always a nervous wreck the 2 days before a scan too!

Thanks everyone Grin

Was a bit weird as we spent so long trying to prepare for worst so didn't quite know what to do. Feeling good now, though shame I've got an extra week of pregnancy sickness to get through Smile
