This is DC3 and I don't remember the movements being like this with the other 2 - they were move slow pushing movements. This one is jerky and taps alot. Anyone else? I've got myself a bit worried.

It gets to be more slow and pushing when they're bigger I think. Right now your baby is pretty small so you'll just feel the really strong kicks which do feel quite jerky.

I wouldn't worry. I'm 21 weeks and am getting the same. In fact I almost feel 'winded' inside sometimes where I'm getting bashed about, if that makes any sense? It's nothing like the smooth movements DD used to make and as I haven't told work yet (waiting for second scan) I must look a little odd squirming around when it happens!

if you put your hands on your belly for a while , you'll feel lots of movements which are smooth, and you are not really aware of - it's just at this stage, you can only feel the poky jerky movements, the baby is still fairly small, and surrounded by a lot of fluid.

I would probably worry and ask my midwife for her advice.

21 weeks and you still haven't told work? Not that you should but my bump is the size of Wales - are you managing to hide it ok?

Phipps - Why should she be worried? I've not been told to feel/look for any particular sort of movements. Just movements. I feel quite a lot of hits and pushes and jerks low down. I'm nearly 31 weeks. Should I be worried too? I see a lot of 'wave' like movement across middle of abdomen, but very little at top because I've got an anterior placenta

PrivetDancer · 12/10/2010 15:28

Seasister, I don't think either you or the OP have any reason to worry. Movement = good afaik!
I'm 34 weeks now and get all sorts including strange vibrations, god knows what the baby is doing in there :-)

StrangewaysHereICome · 12/10/2010 16:12

I am 20 weeks and some of the movement is quite jerky and I am not worried. This is my third pg and as far as I remember in my previous pregnancies the midwife told me to let them know if later on the movements became "frantic". I really wouldn't worry Smile.

mumbybumby · 12/10/2010 16:16

I agree with privet, movement is a good thing! However it feels!
As for work, playwiththekids - I'm lucky as I work in a hospital but they don't directly employ me and my supervision is done over the phone so I never see my boss. Tummy went through a bit of a stretch at the weekend but new cardigans cover a multitude of sins and as soon as I find out all is ok on Friday I will be letting them know! (Breathes a sigh of relief and lets big belly hang out in privacy of office!)

RememberToPlaywiththeKids · 12/10/2010 18:04

oooh fingers crossed for Friday - are you expecting anything in particular?

seasister - I didn't say she should be worried, I said I would worry.

mumbybumby · 12/10/2010 18:33

Thanks! :) not going to find out whether the little thumper is a boy or girl, just really looking forward to seeing a 'proper' baby (couldn't really work out the blob on the dating scan!) and hopefully know everything is ok! Was going to say it will feel more real when we've seen it but that is only true for DP now as I'm well aware bubba's in there! :)
How are you feeling playwiththekids? Hope it's all going ok!
