Hospital bag - what to pack when planning a home birth

I'm 35 weeks and have decided the time has come to pack my hospital bag. I can find plenty of lists with recommendations of what to pack but as I'm planning a home birth it all seems a bit excessive given that I might not need any of it. Has anyone got any advise on the bare essentials to pack?

Thanks

Pack exactly as you would for a hospital birth, but, keep the things you want for your home birth either accessible near thr top or in a separate bag.

If you transfer to hospital it will be much easier and less stressful to just grab a prepared bag, than to have to start thinking about what you might need.

I'd only pack enough pads, nappies, baby clothes, etc for 24 hours. More can be brought in later if needed, but you may not need the bag at all, and if you do go in, it may be well into labour or in an emergency situation when you'll have better things to think of than lugging a huge bag with you.

i packed a full bag

you might not need it. but if you do you will want it all.
it also means you have everything to hand if baby is born at home. i found that great because instead of sending dp off to get stuff like pants/sanitary towels etc etc it was all just there

Pack it all. I've tried twice for a home birth and not quite managed it - not the end of the world, but the last thing you want to worry about is where your toothbrush is!

Pack it all (even if you just put it in a few carrier bags) and have a big box for home birth stuff too. By the time the mw arrived i was not up to explaining where things were so it was handy that she could just get all the stuff out of the box and put towels and bedmats and baby clothes and nappies in sensible places.

At 35 weeks you can feel as lazy as you like! Good luck, hope it all goes to plan!
