Movement at 24 weeks. What's normal?

Hi, I wonder if any ladies on here could give their experiences.

I am 24 weeks pregnant and have days where baby kicks like a mad man (sometimes it can be quite painful). Then I have some days where he moves (over 10 times) but the movements are smaller and more infrequent.

Today he has moved (a few big movements, but mainly smaller ones), but he can go a good hour or more when I can't feel anything. I am pretty sure I am being paranoid as yesterday he was bouncing around all day.

I was told at my 20 wk scan that the placenta was right in the middle of my belly and that would cushion quite a few of the movements, but 4 weeks on, will that still be the case?

I don't really want to ring the midwife as I bet they'll send me off to be monitored and I will have to go alone as dp will need to look after dd.

I know people will say to ring the midwife, but i just want to know if anyone else has had a similar experience. I had my dd nearly 6 years ago, so I can't remember what she was like in the womb.

Don't expect regular movement until 28 weeks. At 24 weeks they are still very small and have tons of space to move about in. It could just be that if bubs has moved and is now facing inwards, then their little legs and arms won't reach the other side yet... IYSWIM. Really nothing to worry about at this stage.

My DS was such a quiet little thing in the womb. I remember whole days at work where I didn't feel him move once. I ended up buying a listening device to hear his heartbeat to reassure myself all was ok. He is now a loud 4 year old.

My DD was a nutter in the womb. She somersaulted non-stop and I used to watch her limbs flying across my tummy. She was completely chilled when she came out and still is age 2.

So be reassured that infrequent movements are normal - as long as there is some movement each day. And if you are concerned I'd definitely recommend buying a listening device. My one was by Summer.

HTH.

Just felt another 2/3 light fluttery movements and a definite kick, so I know he is ok in there. I am just a born worrier lol!

I'm 24 weeks too, and I get the same as you - some days it never keeps still, other days will be much quieter.
The other night I woke up at about 3am to big, humungous somersaults - felt like I had an alien having a party inside! Woke dh up to have a feel, and the moment he put his hand on, fav junior went to sleep!

Any time dp comes near my belly, baby immediately ceases all movement, it's quite funny really. Although dp is getting quite frustrated as has only felt a few kicks here and there.

Baby has moved quite a bit in the last hour, so i am feeling very reassured. Although I managed to work myself up into a panic so also feel rather sick now. I'm a bloody idiot!

felt my first real kick from the outside with my hand on my stomach yesterday - I'm 24+5.

Mostly it's been all internal somersaults and floating kicks.

Last night I was awake all night with the movement.

He seems to be most active mid morning and early evening, but it does vary.
