Measuring a week behind ?

Hi,

I was with my Obs this morning and she has babs measuring about a week behind my due date. She was not in the slightest bit bothered but my two previous dc's always measured ahead. Neither were very large so I am wondering if you measure behind are you more likely to go late / have a small baby ? BTW I am 31+5 .

Thanks,

B x

Is this based on your fundal height measurement? This isn't awfully accurate, so plus/minus one week could just be down to error or baby's position on the day.

Iby my midwife the other week that 2cm behind or ahead is acceptable. I measured 4cm behind at my last app which was with GP (am 36wks +3) but GP didn't seem overly concerned. My other two were quite small too though... I don't think size has much to do with how early or late you go into labour. And how small the baby is in terms of weight is not a very accurate science

I assume you mean according to your fundal height..? 1 week is no problem! I have consistently measured between 5 and 6 weeks behind. Had growth scans and baby has always been totally normal sized... I just carry small.
