help! I think I may actually chop my legs off! Restless legs becomming so frustrating. Anyone have any good remedies? It's taking me ages to get to sleep because of it, and the only thing I've seen online so far is to get your partner to massage your legs untill you fall asleep! Tried to get hubby to try this, but he wasnt up for it!

I found standing on the really cold tiles on my kitchen floor helped!

BerryLellow · 07/10/2010 21:37

Probably not what you want to hear but brisk walking helped, even though I was ridiculously tired.

I've got a yoga DVD and have found that really helps; even if it does mean I'm doing stupid poses in the front room at 2am desperate to get some sleep!

this is it.

If you stand on the bottom step of the stairs just on the balls of your feet and stand up straight letting your heels drop as low as you can (sorry, very badly explained but hope you understand) so that you stretch out your calves etc really helps.

Have you had your iron levels checked? My restless legs went when I had low iron diagnosed and started on Pregaday.

I too have suffered with restless legs and like the OP wanted to chop my legs off several times.
I've found that calcium/magnesium tablets help. I think they're called Ostecare and I take two every day with my evening meal. They are perfectly safe to take during pregnancy and actually recommended for pregnant/BF women.
Have also found calf streches and massage helpful.

I run my feet under the cold tap before i go to bed. Keeping them under there can be like torture but it seems to work :)

MiniMarmite · 08/10/2010 15:30

Horrible isn't it?!

DH massaging feet and legs works best for me too.

Having a bath an hour before you go to bed might work or just washing your feet and moisturising.

Sex.

Reflexology or massage every couple of weeks.

japhrimel · 08/10/2010 15:59

Magnesium can definitely help.

Hi...cold water is the best. Run a sink full before you go to bed and keep yr foot in for about a minute then do the other one. Circle massage your calves firmly. Also point and flex each foot 10 times and circle your ankles 10 times each way. I'm onto my 3rd pregnancy now and the cold water cure is the best!

Also, this time I'm on iron tablets and funnily enough, my legs are ok at the moment but could be the position of the baby maybe?

sophielouise · 10/10/2010 17:36

Eat a banana before bed - it definately helps.. I sympathise because it's one of the MOST annoying pregnancy symptoms I have!
