I'm nearly 12 weeks pregnant and have morning sickness. I feel sick for most of the day and am occasionally physically sick. Do travel sickness bands help?

No. I just found they left me with imprints in my arm.

Keep eating is my only answer and I'm stick puking daily. :(
Lemon barley water is good for me!

doozle · 07/10/2010 12:35

No. Didn't help mine at all. Felt a bit conned that they sell them really.

BarringtonWomble · 07/10/2010 12:38

No difference for me either. I tried everything in the end including acupunture.

I did find lemons, or rather the smell of them around me helped a bit. I seemed to be supersentivive to smells and nearly every smell even ones I'd previously liked made me feel ill apart from lemons Confused

Sympathies though it's horrible and highly underestimated at how debilitating MS can really be.

Ill go against the grain and say YES! THey did help me!

With DD1&2 I was very rarely sick, didnt really feel sick - DS was a completely new concept to me! Although I wasnt physically sick, I fel sick for about 24 weeks!!! From about 14 weeks I started to use the bands as a last resort, and yes, the nausia subsided, cant say it disappeared completely, but I was able to eat again and felt a big improvement!

I guess you dont know unless you try!

Spirael · 07/10/2010 12:43

Just to be different... I found they helped. :)

They didn't get rid of the morning sickness by any means, but they took enough of the edge off it that I could stop eyeing up the distance to the nearest bathroom and just try to ignore the niggling discomfort.

PositiveAttitude · 07/10/2010 12:44

They were brilliant for me!! They took away the constant nausea and meant that I could actually have a bit of a life.
For me they did not actually stop me being sick though, which apparently is rare. It meant that I had absolutely no warning that I was just about to vomit wherever I was. Shock Blush So, I could only use them around the house and if I stayed very close to a sink!!
But, as I had morning sickness from day 1 to half an hour before labour in 5 pregnancies, it was worth wearing them to be able to cope.

Giddyup · 07/10/2010 13:01

They worked really well for me too Smile

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 07/10/2010 13:12

No, not for me, sadly. You have my sympathy - MS (or 24 hours a day sickness to give it it's crrect term) is hellish.

daisystone · 07/10/2010 15:46

No - sorry!

Tinwe · 07/10/2010 19:58

Still wearing mine just in case but not really noticed any difference, although the pharmacist said her daughter thought they were brilliant. Could've been clever sales talk though!

FlyingInTheCLouds · 07/10/2010 20:09

really worked for me. you have to put them in the right spot (4 fingers width away from your wrist crease, between the two tendons.)

nameymcnamechange · 07/10/2010 20:11

Yes, they helped me. Certainly took the edge off it, so although I felt sick all the time, I never actually was sick. They aren't expensive - got to be worth a try?

whizzymummy · 07/10/2010 22:56

Nope, not for me. I wore them for 3 months trying to delude myself with DD pregnancy, but I knew they were not working - even had a few acupuncture sessions (which didn't help either) and checked they were in right place.
Sadly they work for some and not for others, but surely worth a try!?

emsyj · 08/10/2010 09:38

They helped me to feel okay enough to be able to eat and it was the eating that made the sickness ease off. Before I got the bands I felt really sick all the time and couldn't eat, and the less I ate the worse I felt. I think they are only about £7 from Boots so worth a shot?

DetectivePotato · 08/10/2010 10:11

Worked for me! As did eating little and often.

WhatWillSantaBring · 08/10/2010 11:11

Totally worked for me - when from being utterly debilatated by nausea to almost normal within half an hour of putting them on.

I think mine were only £4 from a local pharmacy so worth a shot!

nocake · 08/10/2010 11:26

So far there is no clinical or scientific evidence to show that they do work but they're only a few quid. Even if they only work on the placebo effect it's still worth trying.

MrsMogwai · 08/10/2010 11:47

I don't know if they worked for me. I was still nauseous all day, but sometimes thought they took the edge off. I was scared to take them off! But then I forgot to put them on one morning and noticed absolutely no difference. Haven't worn them since.

boognish · 08/10/2010 12:40

Did nothing for me. But then nothing worked. Green apples were the only thing I found tolerable throughout my morning sickness (agree - 24 hours).
